Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #6

It's time for this week's challenge for my 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style.  We're now half way through the challenge and I want to thank everyone who has played along to date.  And I also want to remind you that if you want to join in, there is still plenty of time.  You can complete the 12 tags in any order at any time.  You just have to have all 12 entered by December 15th if you want to be in the random prize drawing at the end.  And what's the prize?  Your choice of a $25 shop at my Etsy Boutique or one of my pieces of artwork - maybe even one of my Christmas tag triptychs.

Here is my tag #6 which I hope will inspire you.  I struggled with inspiration for this one.  I had a very busy day and every time I thought I would get a chance to sit down and start my tag, I got derailed.  I didn't even start it until about 9:00 p.m. and then oh, the pressure.  I had no idea of what to do.  So I went to Tim Holtz's blog - after all, his work is my inspiration for these tags and challenge.  I decided to use his background technique from last year's tag 9.  For my BG stamp, I used his Fabulous Flourishes stamp with Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink.  I love the way it came out but it's tough to see the pretty gold swirls in the photo.

For this week's '25' I cut a heart with a Spellbinders die and triple gold embossed it.  The 3rd time, while it was still hot, I stamped the 25 into it.  The stamp was inked up with Versamark first so it wouldn't stick to the embossing.  When it was cool,  I took a Copic and colored in the indented 25.  I embellished it further with a tiny piece of hardware from my Etsy shop, also colored with the Copic.

The angel was stamped on a piece of acetate from a package, again with Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink. I think Stazon would have been better, but my black pad has dried out.  But the archival ink worked okay.  The angel stamp is one I bought off eBay a couple of years ago and there is no manufacturer's mark on it.  I fussy cut her and painted the reverse side with acrylic paint.  The doily was spritzed with my mixture of Vintage Photo DI, water and Heirloom Perfect Pearls and adhered with Claudine Hellmuth's Multi Medium Matte.

I really love the way this one came out.  I think it's my favorite so far.  If you want to see the details up close and personal, just click two times on the photo.  I am entering this tag into the Fashionable Stamping Challenge Anything But a Card challenge.

I hope I was able to inspire you to join in my fun little challenge.  Thanks again to those who have become regulars - I'm having a ball visiting you and being inspired by you too!

Hello Linda
I have been waiting patiently for you to post up No 6, I did not want to start another project until I had seen your inspiration. Here in NZ it is Wednesday night already!
And I have to agree with you this is a great Tag. I can see a few elements that are of interest to me and I am eager to get started.

Wow, derailed inspiration at 9 pm and you create this? LOL...I must say, you kicked some butt here. I LOVE this.
The little flair on top of the heart and the same shape in the angel wings and that embossed heart and the swirls. So very beautiful.
You've done it again and you should be proud of this tag too.
I may be a bit late getting this challenge done. The handle to my Big Shot fell off in my hand today..OMG!! Brief moment of panic, but another is on the way. As soon as I get it, I'm up and running. Might challenge myself to create without it. EEEK! That's like breathing with no air. We'll see, but THANK YOU for the beautiful inspiration.
Lisa xx

Beautiful tag!! I liked how you did the heart embossing. I'll have to try that soon. That's a cool doily! I only had a round one so I made a rosette with it.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Jen :)
