Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #7

Hello and welcome back to my 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style!  Thank you to all my visitors, commenters and especially to those of you who have played along.  You inspire me every week with your amazing creations.

We have officially turned the corner that Christmas was just around.  It's now November and week #7 of the challenge.  There is still time for those of you who haven't jumped in and played with us but you should get started soon.  You will have to have 12 Christmas season projects completed, blogged and linked by December 19th in order to be in the prize drawings.  You can find all the challenge requirements in my Week #1 post.

For this week's tag, I started with my usual jumbo manila tag and gave it three coats of Chipped Sapphire Distress Paint, letting each coat dry in between.  Then I used the new Prima Adhesive Rub-on Snow and Santa.  The Prima rub-ons are adhesive patterns and then you foil over the top.  I used silver foil.  I used the large snowflake pattern with the text background as well as five smaller snowflakes on the bottom half.  Then I used a glue stick to add some adhesive around the edges and silver foiled that too.  It made a great background and I meant to take a quick photo and forgot.

So I had a lovely background - now what?  Well, it seemed the the theme of this tag was going to be snow so I went for my Tim Holtz Stacked Snowflake die and cut all four snowflakes out of chipboard.  Two were painted with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint and two were painted with Picket Fence Distress Paint.  The Brushed Pewter layers were then coated with a thick coat of Glossy Accents and then Pumice Stone Distress Glitter.  The Picket Fence layers were also coated with Glossy Accents and then Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter was applied.  Next I grabbed some of the new Baubles and tiny pine cones, threw them into a small zip lock bag and dripped in some Silver Alcohol Ink Mixative, plus a few sprinkles of Pumice Stone Distress Glitter for good measure.  I mushed them all around in the corner of the bag until everything was coated.  I also applied Brushed Pewter Distress Paint and Pumice Stone Distress Glitter to the netting but it doesn't really show up well in the photo.

The letters were cut from white CS with the old Tim Holtz Vintage Market strip die and then painted with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint.  When dry, I stamped with a text stamp in Cobalt Archival Ink.  I wanted to give the letters some dimension so I cut the same letters again out of white craft foam.  When I layered the letters over the craft foam, I offset them just slightly to give a snowy feel.

The deer was cut from chipboard with the old Reindeer Flight Bigz die, painted with Picket Fence DP and glittered with Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter.  I tied a little silver jingle bell around her neck.  The bell was too bright and shiny so I gave it a coat of Silver Alcohol Ink Mixative to make it match my baubles.  The tag was topped off with a piece of seam binding sprayed with Tim Holtz's Brushed Pewter Mica Spray and topped with one of his new Idea-ology Pinecone charms - they are so cute!

That's it for Week #7.  Can't wait to see the entries that come in for this challenge.  Hope to see you all back again next week.

The products below were used to make this tag.  They are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where Tim Holtz/Ranger and other name brand products are always 20% below MSRP.
