Hi there, here I am, showing up a day late for my Frilly and Funkie design team piece. Yesterday was the monthly Artistic Outpost blog hop so I didn't want to take any attention away from that and thought it was better to post this a day late. Sue is our hostess this fortnight and she has challenged us to use stencils on our project. LOL, if you read my blog, you know that's not a challenge. I am another crafter who has developed (much later than most of you) an addiction to stencils. I can't seem to make anything lately without using a stencil in some sort of way.
It's Frilly week so I wanted to craft in the shabby chic style. I cut a card sized piece of Ranger Specialty Stamping Paper because I wanted something strong enough to stand up to embossing paste and distress stains and not warp. Using a Prima stencil, I spread white Wendy Vecchi embossing paste over the card stock and let it semi dry. Then I laid the stencil over it again and sponged on some embossing ink and sprinkled on Weathered White embossing powder. When I heated it to melt the EP, I guess the embossing paste wasn't really dry because it bubbled and blistered, which I thought was terrific. At this point, everything was still white. I made puddle of Iced Spruce and Picket Fence distress stains on my craft sheet and painted it on with a brush. I love the way the background came out!
I downloaded and printed this charming image from Janet K Designs. If you love vintage images, you should visit her blog. I added a few frilly embellishments from my boutique - Venise lace, crinkle ribbon (seam binding), a rhinestone ribbon slide, and a bronze rose that I also embossed with Weathered White embossing powder. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz's Simple Sayings set, stamped in Iced Spruce and the banner was hand cut. This one was a lot of fun to make. Hope you like it. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for your comments!
