May Tag Inspired by Tim Holtz

Hi folks, hope your weekend has been great so far!  I'm back with a tag I worked on most of the afternoon - not exactly a quick and easy one.  But, hey, I got this one in under the wire :).  It's is my tag for Tim Holtz's May tag.  I had pretty much everything he used on his, but I wanted to change it up some so here is my take on the inspiration he gave us.

I took regular tissue paper and spritzed it with a solution of water and Vintage Photo reinker.  Then stamped in Ranger Coffee Archival Ink with images from TH's Haberdashery and also from Wendy Vecchi's A Form of Art set, just to change it up a bit.  I adhered the tissue paper with Glue n' Seal, but I think Tim's way of using the glue stick is better.  With the Glue n' Seal or Multi Medium Matte (my normal way of gluing) you must be very careful not to rip the tissue paper.  I dried it with my heat tool and then sponged it lightly with Walnut Stain DI.  I adhered the half doily with a generous amount of Multi Medium Matte rubbing it in with my finger and also dabbing a bit of Tattered Rose Distress Stain on it and blending it in with my finger.  When dry, I sponged it lightly with Walnut Stain DI.

I broke out the new Harlequin Border Decorative Strip die and used it with some Kraft Core'dinations, lightly sanded with my Sanding Grip.  My seam binding was dyed with a few drips of Bundled Sage reinker and water and woven through the openings in the Harlequin die cut.

You probably recognize the metallic heart wings from my post on Frilly and Funkie last week.  I finally found a home for them.  I got my melting pot out and instead of dipping mulberry paper flowers into to the hot UTEE, I dipped a canvas flower (made with the Tattered Pinecones die) and canvas leaves (made with the Tattered Leaves die) for a very interesting effect.  My other tiny flowers were cut with the Tattered Flowers Decorative Strip die from white CS, sponged with Aged Mahogany DI and then dipped into the hot UTEE effectively making them enameled flowers.

I've listed below all the products I used on this piece that can be purchased at my Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Don't forget about the Memorial Day sale - 10% off everything in the store through May 28th.

Linda! Look at you with your own shop and everything!!! I'm thrilled to see the OCC belongs to you now - that is fantastic! I am so very happy for you and I don't think I can express that joy well enough!!!

I've been really busy and life has taken a completely different course for me since the new year. Know that I peek in when I can, and with you as the owner, I'll pop in on the OCC more frequently!

((hugs)) to you, friend!

How gorgeous those wings are! Love the contrast of the faux metal with all your softer elements. The tissue paper base adds such interest, too. Beautiful tag, Linda!

Hi Linda. I just LOVE your blog and your store. I found you today by way of Teresa Kline who used some of your lovely lace on her card. Your work is also simply beautiful! I'd love to have you join us sometime at Word Art Wednesday if you have time. Your art would be such a blessing to us in our challenges. Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,

I can now say from experience, tags are NOT an easy peasy thing to accomplish! All the times I've admired yours from afar, I never really, REALLY knew how MUCH time it takes; which makes me appreciate your knock out tags EVEN more!
Hope you're having a great week so far.
Hugs,
Lisa xx
