Soft as a Butterfly's Wing

Hello friends!  I'm back today with a tag that I made for Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities 2 challenge #7.  This time the challenge is being sponsored by eclectic Paperie and we are using the brushless watercolor technique found on page 49 of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities II.  I love trying all these techniques and I had fun with this one, but I'm not really sure I like my tag.  The technique came out great but I think the design or the colors are a bit lackluster.

Working again with one of the jumbo tags, a recent new addition to my boutique, I was trying to go for a very soft gentle feel with it using stamps from the Artistic Outpost Flower Market set and the colors Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord and Mustard Seed.  I used a sticky back canvas Distressed Doily die cut that was floating around on my desk left over for yesterday's F&F piece.  It had been run through the Damask texture fade and dry brushed with gesso.   I created a double UTEE embossed flourish using the Elegant Flourishes die and plain gray chipboard.  After die cutting, I painted it white with a Snow Cap paint dabber and the dabbed on Crushed Grape distress stain, gave it two coats of UTEE and while the UTEE was still hot, burned my fingers and sprinkled on Martha Stewart micro beads.

My flower was made from ivory felt, cut with the Tattered Pinecones die and rolled.  I took a detail tip water brush, dipped it into Dusty Concord distress stain and painted the edges, then spritzed it good with water and let the distress stain wick into the felt.  For good measure, I then spritzed it with Perfect Pearls Perfect Pearl mist.  My jumbo ticket was stamped and then coated with one coat of UTEE and then sponged with Vintage Photo DI for that blotchy, worn effect that  I love.  I finished it off with a loop of jute ribbon and burlap string.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and for any comments you care to leave.  I so appreciate your encouragement!

I am working a card sorta like this one right now. Still work in progress. Funny how I get an idea and when I go to put it together it never looks like what I had in mind to start with. Moving on.

You give new meaning to a "painstaking' effort Linda. Sorry to hear about the burned fingers, but the loss of your fingerprints has lent itself to a fabby-tastic tag! :)

Hugs to you,
Lisa xx
