Happy 4th of July to all my American friends - hope today brings you a wonderful patriotic summer celebration. I'm back today with Part II of the Texture and Material challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.
I was out of patriotic stamps and wanted to do another 4th of July piece so I used the Wild West image from Tim Holtz. Cowboys and, by extension, the wild west always seem like a piece of Americana to me so I thought it would work well with the patriotic theme I was going for. I ripped up an old bandana and broke out more Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Backed Canvas for my material twist. After I cut the letters out of Sticky Backed Canvas with my Word Play die, I ran Faded Jeans Distress Stain over them. This piece actually started out to be a tag for Tim's July tag, but I couldn't get the Word Play letters and everything else on a tag. But it does hang so maybe we could consider it an extra large jumbo tag???
I couldn't get out to get a can of the compressed air that he used with the alcohol inks so I used glossy card stock and with an alcohol ink applicator, I dabbed red and blue alcohol ink on and then added silver mixative and blending solution to the applicator and went over it with silver. The image was stamped with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink and the tickets with Colbolt Archival Ink. The Kraft Core paper was run through the diamond plate texture fade and sanded with my sanding grip. The tickets were cut with the Ticket Decorative Strip die and stamped with a couple of stamps from Odds and Ends. I used red and blue alcohol inks to alter the 4 and the brads. The small 'th' was cut with the Chip Block decorative strip die from glossy CS and then I dripped alcohol ink on them. The rusty stars are also from my boutique as is the white corrugated cardboard that I swiped with Faded Jeans DS.

I love it. May favorite part was the use of the bandana. And you're right about the cowboy.
I have seen people add cards to Tim's tag, so go for it! Love the rodeo theme for the 4th and of course the lettering is so awesome! Fabulous and so much texture and interest for the eyes to enjoy! Happy 4th of July!
