It's Time

Good morning and welcome to my Simon Says Stamp and Show post.  Yes, this is Linda's blog, The Funkie Junkie.  I know what I am posting today is not my normal frilly, fussy, girlie work.  And I have no explanation for the deviation from my norm.  It just happened of it's own volition.

This week, Simon Says Stamp and Show Us Elements of Time, a cool theme that I have been looking forward to.  I sat down to work on my piece, intending do make something related to New Year's and Father Time, but somewhere I made a definite turn to the dark side.  And yes, it's another tag - are you tired of them yet?  I don't seem to be - LOL.

I cut a piece of kraft CS with the Alterations Tag and Bookplates die, embossed it with the Pocketwatch Texture Fade and sponged it with Broken Twigs DI.  Then I quickly clear embossed it, brushing off the embossing powder where it stuck to the low points.  Using the Holly Branch die to cut chipboard, I embossed the pieces with silver embossing powder, then ran the pieces through the Script embossing folder.  To give them the look of tarnished silver, I sponged them with Ranger Black Archival ink and then wiped it off.  (The holly branch was supposed to tie into the holidays/New Year's).  I added tiny jewelry tags with the quote "Time waits for no man" and set the game spinners to point to midnight to signify the passing of another day.

Then I created an embossed chipboard frame with the same faux silver treatment and framed the quote from Wendy Vecchi's Seriously art set, which was stamped on vellum.  I finished it off with a bit of burlap - one of my favorite embellishments.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you will stop by the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge blog and see the wonderous art created by my team mates.  And I hope you will also create your own "time piece" to join in the challenge with us.  Don't forget, each and every week our generous sponsor gives away a $50 shopping spree in their store Simon Says Stamp.

Linda: Didn't I have a chuckle about your opening paragraph (quote "yes you are on Linda's blog"). I've been a quiet reader for some time, just recently became a follower, and know your style! I think this "dark side" tag could be the ghost of Christmas past. Love all your little time details.

Also Thanks for the nice comments you left on my blog. It means a lot and is very much appreciated!

Hi Linda, another fabulous tag, the silver pieces really do look like metal pieces and I love the embossed text. The background works perfectly and works so well with your embellishments. Lovely piece. Tracy x
