Shabby Christmas Packets - Thank You Notes & Gift Tags

I'm back today with my DT project for the new challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.  Cec is our hostess and she wants us to make a start on our Christmas gift tags and thank you notes.  What a great challenge theme and it will help us make these little items that will be so needed in the next month!

I've been struggling a lot with my time this week - the shop has been busy and we have loads of family members here all week for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Being pinched for time, I decided to make little notes that could do double duty.  They can be used for gift tags or thank you notes.  I started with these sweet little glassine bags (3 1/4 by 4 5/8") and ran four of them through four different Christmas/winter themed texture fades and then lightly sponged the raised areas with Vintage Photo DI.  I have to say, just running them through the texture fades made a nice enough decoration on them
The stars here were cut with an older Sizzix die, but you can achieve the same results with the new TH Stacked Stars die.  I cut the stars from chipboard and painted them with Picket Fence crackle paint, then sponged the edges with Vintage Photo DI.  Then I applied a few dabs of the new translucent embossing paste by Wendy Vecchi and sprinkled on Clear Rock Candy distress glitter.  The tag/note blank was cut with the Baroque M&S die from white CS.  I spritzed a bit of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls mist on my craft sheet and blotted the paper into it.  Then using the pinecone stamp from Mini Holidays 3, I water stamped it using Vintage Photo DI, cut it and then edged it with more VPDI.  I used the smallest crackled star as a reinforcement for the twine tie.
Next up is the poinsettia themed packet.  My poinsettia was cut from white CS, stamped in Vintage Photo with the script stamp from TH's Apothecary set (my current favorite script stamp).  Once stamped, I misted it with Biscotti Perfect Pearls and then sponged the edges with VPDI.  The bottom leaf layer was colored with Tarnished Brass distress stain and edged with VPDI.  The stamen was colored with Tarnished Brass and then coated with Glossy Accents which I use to adhere my distress glitter which this time is Antique Linen DG.  I misted the left over Tarnished Brass DS on my craft sheet and then blotted it up with white CS which became the base of my tag/note blank.  It was then stamped with the poinsettia stamp from Mini Holidays 4 using Old Paper DI.  I used the Mini Tattered Poinsettia M&S die to make a reinforcer for my tag tie.
This little glassine bag was embossed with the pinecone texture fade from the Holly Branch and Pine Branch texture fade set and sponged with VPDI.  The rosette snowflake was cut from a piece of CS on which I had printed a Christmas carol.  I embellished the envelope with a strip of snowflake garland from the Holly, Beaded and Snowflake Garland decorative strip die.  It's white CS misted with Biscotti Perfect Pearls mist and sponged with VPDI.  The button is from Tim's Idea-ology Accoutrements - Fanciful Buttons set.  I also misted it with the Biscotti PP to give it a little golden hue.  The tag was blotted in the left over PP mist from my craft sheet and water stamped with the pine cone stamp from the Mini Holidays 3 set using VPDI.  My snowflake reinforcement was cut with the retired SU Northern Frost decorative strip die.
Last up is my snowflake shabby packet, embossed with the Snow Flurries texture fade and again sponged with VPDI.  The snowflake is an old Cuttlebug die (someone please tell Mr. Holtz that we need a Bigz die that has a LARGE snowflake on it) cut with chipboard and painted with Picket Fence crackle paint and then of course edged with VIDI.  The smaller snowflake is Tim's Mini Snowflake M&S die and glittered with Antique Linen.  My tag/note card blank is white CS dabbed in a bit of Tarnished Brass distress stain and water stamped with the snowflake stamp from Mini Holidays.  It was stamped in both Vintage Photo DI and Old Paper DI.  My snowflake reinforcement was cut with the Mini Snowflake M&S die.

That's it for my shabby little packets that can be used for gift tags or thank you notes.  The tags can be stamped with a Thank You sentiment on the front and the back for a handwritten message.  These were so much fun to make and I love using the sweet glassine bags.  I'm almost out of stock in the boutique but will be reordering soon so if they are sold out, check back in a week or os.

Wishing all my American friends a Happy Thanksgiving!

Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #10

Hi everyone, it's time again for another tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style.  I'm back this week with Tag #10.  How are you doing on finishing your tags/holiday projects for this challenge?  You have until December 22nd to link all 12 tags, but if you haven't started, time is running short.  I'd love to have you play along.  You can find all of the challenge requirements in the Tag #1 post here.  And if you are playing along, thank you so much.  I've been swamped any haven't gotten around to visit everyone who has played, but I will be stopping by to take a closer look.

And now for some details on this tag.  I was able to get an ample supply of the new Tim Holtz stencils into the shop so I pulled my first Tim Holtz stencil from the inventory and used it here.  I decided I wanted to stamp inside an oval and then emboss around the oval.  It took a little juggling but I was able to work it out.
To start with, I marked off my oval by tracing around the oval on the texture fade diffuser.   I did the same on a piece of matting paper and cut it out.  Once I trimmed out the middle of the oval, I was ready to get started.
I applied the matting paper to my tag and then embossed the Holly Bough stencil with Pine Needles distress ink.   Then I embossed the holly branch texture fade  on the top and the bottom of the tag, using the embossing diffuser.

The dry embossed Holly Branch was sponged with Pine Needles DI and I stamped the script from Wendy Vecchi's Live and Make Art set lightly and randomly with Walnut Stain DI.  The edges were also sponged with Walnut Stain.  Using the Holly Branch die, I cut the holly leaves from manila CS and sponged them with Pine Needles DI, then swiped them with Picket Fence distress stain.  When dry, I embossed them with the Flourish texture fade, sponging the edges with Walnut Stain.

The Ornate Frame die was used to cut chipboard, which was then painted with Brushed Pewter distress stain and then Pewter distress glitter was added.  I had the Pewter distress stain on my craft sheet, left over from painting the ornate frame.  I spritzed some water on it and then blotted my tag into to it to give it a little bling.  The sentiment was stamped in Jet Black archival.  I dyed the seam binding with SU's Real Red reinker and then applied Brushed Pewter glitter to the mirrored star.

And that's a wrap for tag #10.  Thanks so much for stopping by and if you are planing along, thank you so much for join in.
