Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #12

The time has come to conclude this year's 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style.  This is the fourth year I have offered this challenge and every year it has been so much fun!  I'm always delighted with the inspiration that everyone provides.  It's been a pleasure to welcome back previous year's players as well as get to know those joining in for the first time.  Thank you to everyone who has played and who has visited.

For my last tag, I decided to make a little folded card type of tag.  Starting with one of my favorite jumbo manila tags that I sell in the boutique, I bent both ends inward until they touched and once in the correct formation, using a bone folder, I made sharp creases.  I really love this new Wendy Vecchi plaid stamp, especially for winter crafting.  I stamped the front two panels with Festive Berries and the back panel was stamped with Evergreen Bough.  Then the entire exterior was sponged with Vintage Photo.

For the interior,  I applied Evergreen Bough ink through the Holly stencil, then added a very light touch of vintage text with Wendy Vecchi's new stamp.  Then I splattered on a few dots of Gathered Twigs distress ink.  The inside was then sponged with Vintage Photo and Festive Berries distress glitter was used to make the holly berries.  I just dotted a bead of Glossy Accents where I wanted the holly berries and then shook on the Festive Berries glitter.  At that point, I set it aside to dry over night.  My sentiment panel was cut with an ancient Spellbinders label die and stamped with jet black archival ink.  The sentiment is from Stamping' Up.  I also applied the delicate holly stamp by Tim Holt.  I don't even remember what set it is from because the stamp is a go to stamp that no longer resides in it's set.  It sits in my go to bin on my desk all year 'round.  The panel was cut from white CS and aged with Vintage Photo DI.

I applied a band of corrugated cardboard around the tag to act as a closer, leaving just a sliver extra overhang on the left side which when the burlap string is on, it keeps the right side from popping open.  The front was decorated with three holly leaves cut with the Festive Greenery die, colored with Evergreen Bough and sprayed with a squirt of Perfect Pearls mist.  The front sentiment tiny tag was cut with Tim Holtz's Framelits Tag Collection die from white CS and stamped in Festive Berries with Vendy Vecchi' Polka Dot stamp.  The sentiment is from Stamping' Up.

I tied it together with twine and added a couple of silver charms along with the tag on a silver tone loop pin.

Well folks, that's the end for this year.  I hope many of you will be able to complete the challenge.  I am going to extend the closing date one extra week to December 27th to give you a bit of breathing room before Christmas and allow you to finish up the challenge after the big day.

Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #11

We're almost to the end of the 4th annual 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style!   I'm delighted that so many of you are playing along this year...old friends and new!  I hope you will all finish.  Please review your posts to make sure you have met all the requirements to be in the prize drawing and for the 10% discount coupon for shopping at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Everyone who properly completes the challenge will get a 10% off coupon to use in January.

My tag this week features another slathered on background.  This time I mixed gesso with Tim's Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  When it dried, it was sprayed with Broken China and Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stains.  And then I couldn't resist hitting edges and high points with a bit of Vintage Photo DI.

Not wanting to cover up the background, I only used a few embellishments.  Most are from the Alpha Parts - Frozen set.  I wanted to have the snowflakes stand out a bit so I colored them with Pool Alcohol Ink.  For the largest snowflake, the bottom two layers were cut from the Paper Snowflake dies.  The bottom layer was cut from silver Deco Sheets.  I adhered the deco sheet film onto a piece of card stock before I cut it.  The next layer up was white card stock with Clear Rock Candy glitter and the top layer is one of the Frozen Alpha Parts.  The Seasons Greetings was also cut from silver Deco Sheet applied to card stock first.  Then I cut another set of the sentiment from black CS and layered it under the silver to make it stand out more against the silvery BG.

Thanks again to everyone for visiting, commenting and playing along!  Can't wait to see what inspires you from this tag.
