Golden Autumn

Greetings friends and followers.  I have a very quick and easy tag to share with you today.  I am joining the design team over at Frilly and Funkie this week for the Autumn Splendor challenge.  As usual, I was running close to the deadline to get the sample submitted.  I dashed into my craft room and grabbed a jumbo tag.  Unfortunately I had left my Spiced Marigold spray over at the shop but I had one that had been colored with Ken Oliver Orange Color Burst.  It was a little too bright orange so I knocked it back and gave it some bling with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls spray.  Next,  Tim Holtz Ranger Texture Paste was applied over the Typo stencil.  Then I sprayed it with a couple squirts  each of Meadow Adirondack Color Wash spray and  Vintage Photo distress spray stain.    Vintage Photo distress ink was applied to the edges and also to the stenciled texture paste design.  Then a little shine was added by rubbing Inka Gold Old Gold over the texture paste. 

I adhered a vintage pumpkin card by edging it with Vintage Photo and then rubbing the edges with Inka Gold Old Gold.  A Tim Holtz flashcard and a few leaves that were cut with the Autumn Foliage die (LOVE that die set!) were also added.  

The vintage pumpkin card and the stained, stamped leaves are being sent out in thank you gifs from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I was delighted that my staff sent me out tonight with a handful of these goodies that gave me a head start on my project.  

I finished up with a sentiment from Big Chat as well as a couple of tiny leaves and a hand dyed seam binding bow.  The seam binding was dyed with Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade and Antiqued Brass spray stains.  It also came pre-dyed from the shop as we were using it for ribbon on the thank you gifts.

Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #3

Here we go again, friends...week #3 is coming atcha! A huge thank you to each and every one of you for visiting, commenting and a hug to everyone who has played along so far!

Every time there is a new batch of Tim Holtz dies out, there is always a favorite.  I thought the Holiday Knit thinlits would be the one this season, but now it looks like Birch Trees and Woodlands are outselling it, at least in my shop. But for me, it still think this one is my favorite.  You will probably see it again before the holiday season is out.

For your inspiration, here is my Tag #3.  I decided on red and to go glittery with my first make with this Holiday Knit die set.  Unfortunately the camera really didn't pick up all the sparkles.  This is one of those pieces that looks lovely IRL but doesn't photograph well.

When I first saw the image of this die set, I though it would be just one panel but it turned out to be five separate dies.  I like that I can easily use each one separately, but it also poses a challenge to use all of them on one project.  I had to actually measure the spaces to get the blank space in between equal.  I messed up on one that had already been glued down and had to pull it up and reposition it.

I started with on of my favorite jumbo tags, covered it with a Gold Deco Sheet and inked the edges with Vintage Photo.  Next the Holiday Knit strips were cut from white CS and sprayed with Dylusions Post Box Red and then Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold.  They were glued down with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  One of the new Wendy Vecchi Mat Minis Holly and Berries was used for the holly.  It was stained with Evergreen Bough and stamped in Vintage Photo with the Holiday Knit stamp.  The holly berries were glittered with Festive Berries distress glitter.

The sentiment panel was white CS, sponged with Evergreen Bough and stamped with the sentiment from Old Fashioned Christmas and embossed with Queens Gold EP (sorry, it's discontinued).  The deer and the snowflake are Kaisercraft Laser Cut wood flourishes.  I covered them with Antique Linen distress stickles and then used my finger to apply Inka Gold Old Gold to both.  To dress up my deer a bit, I added a Pine Twine Wreath and a tiny jingle bell.  The bell was originally silver and I altered it to gold using a few drops of Alcohol Ink Gold Mixative.

Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #2

Welcome to Week #2 of the 2015 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style.  If you are here for the first time, you can find all of this year's challenge details on the Week #1 post.

Heartfelt thanks are going out to everyone who left a comment last week.  I was blown away by so many welcoming comments and tickled that so many of you want to play this year.  I'm already having a blast and hope that many more of you will join in this fun challenge.

Here is my Week #2 inspiration tag.  Just quickly, to play, make a holiday craft piece inspired by something on this tag.  It can be anything but you have to share what inspired you in your post.  You can link up any time, in no particular order, the closing of the challenge on December 20th.  There are a few other requirements so be sure to read Week #1.    For my Tag #2, I decided I wanted to play with the new Woodlands Thinlits dies.  I grabbed one of my jumbo manila tags and gave it two coats of black with Black Soot distress paint, then dried it well with my heat tool.  Next I sprayed some Meadow Adirondack Color Wash onto a few pieces of white scrap card stock, then added a hint of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls spray too.  Once dry, I cut out the trees.  I cut two of each and then trimmed off the top of the extra two to make background trees for the tag.  The trees were also edged with Vintage Photo distress ink.

I created some starlight rays with Tim's Rays stencil and Wendy Vecchi's gold embossing paste.  Then I broke out a new pack of the Gilded Holidays Remnant Rubs and started rubbing on the stars and sparkles.  The next thing I did was to apply the Christmas Wishes rub on at the bottom.  I wanted to make sure I had it well placed before I glued down my Woodlands trees.

Once the trees were affixed, I knew I needed more sparkles so I grabbed a bottle of Platinum stickles and added lots of sparkly dots.  I didn't realize it was Platinum until I had added them all and was putting the bottle away.  It looked like gold when I grabbed it and I never looked at the table.  So now I had gold and platinum on my tag.  Normally I wouldn't have liked the combination, but for some odd reason, it worked great here.

Next came the star for the rays.  It was cut from chipboard and colored with Antique Bronze distress stain.  It wasn't gold enough so I rubbed on Inka Gold Old Gold.  I tried to add the "wonder" rub on over the Inka Gold and it wouldn't stick.

 I tried to add the 'wonder' rub on, but it wouldn't stick.  i did manage to rub it onto a piece of white CS, then cut it out and glued it down.  Since I had a bit of Old Gold on my finger, I wet it slightly and then rubbed it between the streams of light to give an iridescent glow.  And last, I took two silver snowflakes, cut off the top loop with my pliers and changed it to gold with the Inka Gold Old Gold.
