Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #3

Double click any image to zoom in for details.
Here we go again, friends...week #3 is coming atcha! A huge thank you to each and every one of you for visiting, commenting and a hug to everyone who has played along so far!

Every time there is a new batch of Tim Holtz dies out, there is always a favorite.  I thought the Holiday Knit thinlits would be the one this season, but now it looks like Birch Trees and Woodlands are outselling it, at least in my shop. But for me, it still think this one is my favorite.  You will probably see it again before the holiday season is out.

For your inspiration, here is my Tag #3.  I decided on red and to go glittery with my first make with this Holiday Knit die set.  Unfortunately the camera really didn't pick up all the sparkles.  This is one of those pieces that looks lovely IRL but doesn't photograph well.

When I first saw the image of this die set, I though it would be just one panel but it turned out to be five separate dies.  I like that I can easily use each one separately, but it also poses a challenge to use all of them on one project.  I had to actually measure the spaces to get the blank space in between equal.  I messed up on one that had already been glued down and had to pull it up and reposition it.

I started with on of my favorite jumbo tags, covered it with a Gold Deco Sheet and inked the edges with Vintage Photo.  Next the Holiday Knit strips were cut from white CS and sprayed with Dylusions Post Box Red and then Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold.  They were glued down with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  One of the new Wendy Vecchi Mat Minis Holly and Berries was used for the holly.  It was stained with Evergreen Bough and stamped in Vintage Photo with the Holiday Knit stamp.  The holly berries were glittered with Festive Berries distress glitter.

The sentiment panel was white CS, sponged with Evergreen Bough and stamped with the sentiment from Old Fashioned Christmas and embossed with Queens Gold EP (sorry, it's discontinued).  The deer and the snowflake are Kaisercraft Laser Cut wood flourishes.  I covered them with Antique Linen distress stickles and then used my finger to apply Inka Gold Old Gold to both.  To dress up my deer a bit, I added a Pine Twine Wreath and a tiny jingle bell.  The bell was originally silver and I altered it to gold using a few drops of Alcohol Ink Gold Mixative.

That's all the details on my Week #3 tag  I hope you will decide to play along with my 12 Tags of Christmas challenge.  It's super easy and totally flexible in terms with a deadline 10 weeks out and very loose parameters for subject matter.  You can find all the requirements here.  Hope to see you playing along!

These supplies were used to make the above tag and are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where Ranger/Tim Holtz and most other name brand products are always 20% below MSRP.

I am so glad that we're not videotaped when we open your blog. Otherwise you would have heard me squeal like a giddy little school girl when I saw this tag! It's a paper sweater hug on a tag. This knitted sweater background with all the fabulous holiday accoutrements is just perfection. I'll never be able to pick a favorite as they all so incredibly diverse and wonderful!! Thanks so much for the wonderful challenge and fantastic inspiration. :)
hugs,
Lisa x

This was an inspiring tag... Thanks for the challenge, and thanks for swinging by my blog, too! I wanted you to know that I do have a link to your fabulous shop right on the first line... Your comment indicated that maybe I didn't. (I actually just received a package from you... Your elves must have been VERY busy last weekend!) Xo

I love the die cuts you used. It added such a festive glittery look when teamed up with the gold glitter specialty paper. I must say - the fact that each tag you make is so completely different than others, amazes me. I love that your profile says you are 'retired'. hahaha. I bet you work more hours now. If only your shop was on the other side of the US, I would stop in and help out.

Oh boy, Linda! This is so festive, and you have really put those dies to great use! I guess it was frustrating to have to do a little do over, but it is good to hear that even you makes an occasional goofy! I'm loving the inspiration! Big hugs!
