Another Harvest Maid

Hello again and welcome back for my weekly Monday post for the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge.  This week, the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge is Numbers.  This was a challenge for me.  I just couldn't think of a project that I was satisfied with.  Nothing seemed worthy of the talent on this design team.  I just vascillated all week on what I should do and nothing really zinged me.  I finally settled on a tag with a numbers base.  I dragged out every single Tim Holtz Texture Fade I owned and ran them through with plain white cardstock.  Then I clipped out all the numbers portions and patchworked them together.  I sewed them with a zig-zag stitch and after being hit with several colors of distress ink, most heavily Vintage Photo, that became the basis for my tag.

Continuing on with my recent harvest theme, I added a vintage September calendar with a scripture verse "Your labor is not in vain in the Lord".   I closely trimmed a vintage harvest girl with what looks like a sheaf of wheat on her back and a sickle on her arm.  I made three flowers which I dyed with Dried Marigold, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.  They were also spritzed with a mixture of water, Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls and two drops of Vintage Photo reinker.  IRL, they have a gorgeous shimmer.  I cut a flourish with a die and attemped to create a string of gold pearls with gold Liquid Pearl.  They sort of smeared so I took my finger and rubbed them in, coating the entire flourish with gold Liquid Pearl.  I rationalized that with the thought that it looks more grungy that way.  I also dyed the seam binding with Rusty Hinge to match the flowers.

For a quick and easy project this week, I was really happy with the way it turned out.  What do you think?  I'm not sure what to do with it, but it makes for a pretty piece of eye candy.

Okay, enough about my project.  Hop on over to the other teammies blogs because their projects are 10xcooler than mine.

Linda, this is brilliant. You are so creative it boggles my mind sometimes.

I would use it as a bit of autumn decoration in my house - perhaps hanging from a door knob or on a little easel.

Cheers,
Susan

WOW! Talk about creative, just love what you did with the numbers for the background!! As for what to do with it, I'd give it with a little gift (book?) for someone working hard and going through a rough patch, with that sentiment it is very encouraging.
