Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #12

Double click any photo to zoom in for details
The time has come to conclude this year's 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style.  This is the fourth year I have offered this challenge and every year it has been so much fun!  I'm always delighted with the inspiration that everyone provides.  It's been a pleasure to welcome back previous year's players as well as get to know those joining in for the first time.  Thank you to everyone who has played and who has visited.

For my last tag, I decided to make a little folded card type of tag.  Starting with one of my favorite jumbo manila tags that I sell in the boutique, I bent both ends inward until they touched and once in the correct formation, using a bone folder, I made sharp creases.  I really love this new Wendy Vecchi plaid stamp, especially for winter crafting.  I stamped the front two panels with Festive Berries and the back panel was stamped with Evergreen Bough.  Then the entire exterior was sponged with Vintage Photo.

For the interior,  I applied Evergreen Bough ink through the Holly stencil, then added a very light touch of vintage text with Wendy Vecchi's new stamp.  Then I splattered on a few dots of Gathered Twigs distress ink.  The inside was then sponged with Vintage Photo and Festive Berries distress glitter was used to make the holly berries.  I just dotted a bead of Glossy Accents where I wanted the holly berries and then shook on the Festive Berries glitter.  At that point, I set it aside to dry over night.  My sentiment panel was cut with an ancient Spellbinders label die and stamped with jet black archival ink.  The sentiment is from Stamping' Up.  I also applied the delicate holly stamp by Tim Holt.  I don't even remember what set it is from because the stamp is a go to stamp that no longer resides in it's set.  It sits in my go to bin on my desk all year 'round.  The panel was cut from white CS and aged with Vintage Photo DI.

I applied a band of corrugated cardboard around the tag to act as a closer, leaving just a sliver extra overhang on the left side which when the burlap string is on, it keeps the right side from popping open.  The front was decorated with three holly leaves cut with the Festive Greenery die, colored with Evergreen Bough and sprayed with a squirt of Perfect Pearls mist.  The front sentiment tiny tag was cut with Tim Holtz's Framelits Tag Collection die from white CS and stamped in Festive Berries with Vendy Vecchi' Polka Dot stamp.  The sentiment is from Stamping' Up.

I tied it together with twine and added a couple of silver charms along with the tag on a silver tone loop pin.

Well folks, that's the end for this year.  I hope many of you will be able to complete the challenge.  I am going to extend the closing date one extra week to December 27th to give you a bit of breathing room before Christmas and allow you to finish up the challenge after the big day.

Please review all your posts to make sure you have completed all the challenge requirements, most specifically a bit about the challenge and what inspired your piece, a link back to my blog and plus a link to The Funkie Junkie Boutique, with the explanation that the boutique is sponsoring the challenge.  The prizes up for grabs are a $50 gift certificate for the grand prize plus two runner up winners will each get a $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  And everyone who completes the challenge will get a 15% discount coupon good for one use to shop at The Funkie Junkie Boutique in January.

Thanks again to everyone who played along with me this year!

The products below have been used to make this tag and area available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, where Tim Holtz, Wendy Vecchi and most other name brand products are always 20% below MSRP.

Linda, what a fabulous finale! Although I got hooked up a little late--6 days ago to be exact--your inspiration has seen me through to this point, and now I have 11 cards I can send out! I couldn't have done it without your TREMENDOUS inspiration and energy! I'm so thankful for that extra week to finish this tag (probably a card for me!) I really could use the time to get my cards in the mail!!! Ha ha!

This last tag is a favorite of mine with the splatters of ink, the festive red berries, and the corrugated sleeve to keep it snugly closed. Such a brilliant design, and happy to see you using the old stamps and Stampin' Up sentiments...tee hee...I've used a few oldies, but goodies myself!

I'm wishing you and your family a Blessed and Merry Christmas! You are a blessing to the crafting world! Big Christmas hugs!

So many things to love about this tag/card! The plaid!, the holly!, the jingle bell! the snowflake! I'm finding it hard to decide which elements I'll choose for my final project, but I know it's going to be a fun one to work on! Thanks for the deadline extension. Having extra time during this season is always appreciated!

What a treat to finish it all off... I'm so sad I couldn't fit it in this year, but I have enjoyed seeing the creations of those who were playing as well, of course, as your marvellous inspiration pieces. Fingers crossed for next year....

Have a peaceful and joyous festive season.
Hugs,
Alison xx
