Lots of Love for Lauryn Blog Hop

Isn't this little girl just precious? Let me introduce you....
Lauryn was diagnosed with Leukemia on March 27, 2014. She is currently hospitalized in the DC area undergoing chemotherapy to fight this terrible disease. Lauryn is Linda Payne's granddaughter...many of you in the stamping community probably already know sweet Linda!

As news of Lauryn's illness spread via social media, many of you have asked if there is anything you can do to help, so we have come up with a plan. We decided to have a Card Drive and would like to invite YOU to help by sending "happy mail" to Lauryn and her family.

Please create cards to share your love and encouragement for Lauryn and her family. Lauryn's parents are Josh and Elizabeth and she has two older siblings: Lily and Logan. We thank the Lord for this dear family and need to pray for them as they are seeking to glorify the Lord throughout this trial.

Cards can be mailed to:
Children's National
Hematology/Oncology RM 437
Lauryn Newsome
111 Michigan Ave NW
Washington DC 20010

You can find updates on Lauryn via a Facebook page that has been set up by some family. It is Fight on Little Lauryn. They have shared how encouraging it is receive a simple "like" on a Facebook status or words of love and encouragement that is posted.

Here is the fabulous group of bloggers who have joined us in promoting this Card Drive. We would love for you to hop with us as numerous bloggers have blog candy and all you need to do is leave a comment...

Here is my card that I made for the card drive.  I'll tell you a little about how I made it and also list the products below that are available from my on-line store The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  My boutique is also sponsoring this hop and if you leave a comment today, April 14th, I will do a random selection from the comments and give a $25 gift certificate to shop at  my little boutique.

I wanted to help Linda Payne's family financially too.  At the bottom of this post is a small shot of my Springtime in Paris piece that I made for a guest DT spot with A Vintage Journey.  I am holding a silent auction for this piece.  You can read all about it in this post.  I will match whatever it sells for and donate the full amount to Linda Payne's family to help defray expenses connected with Lauryn's illness.  If you would like to make a donation to Linda's family, you will find a PayPal button on the Love for Lauryn blog.
The designer paper is from the Pion Design For Mother collection.  I embossed a glassine bag with the Springtime Backgrounds and Borders texture fade and sponged the high spots with Vintage Photo DI.  I cut thin chipboard hearts with Spellbinders dies, cutting two of each size and stacking them and then painting them with Picket Fence crackle paint.

The flowers were cut with the Tattered Flowers decorative strip die from white card stock and then colored with a mix of Spun Sugar and Aged Mahogany distress stains.  The ivy was cut with the new Spring Greenery decorative strip die from white CS and colored with Mowed Lawn DI, edged with Vintage Photo DI.  Both the flower and the ivy were misted with Perfect Pearls Biscotti mist - love that stuff!  The beautiful Venise lace will be listed in my store soon.  I have it in stock, just haven't had time to photograph it and list it.
Inside the little glassine bag is a sentiment card.  I downloaded the lovely vintage image from Lilac and Lavender blog.  It was cut with the Mini Baroque Movers and Shapers die and the edges were sponged with Vintage Photo DI.  The sentiment was stamped with Jet Black archival with an old stamp from Papertreyink's Everyday Blessings set (don't know if it is even still available).
The pretty bronze filigree I used for an embellishment is also available at my shop.
I finished off the inside and will write a message for the family.  I started with plain white card stock and stamped images from an old SU set, Gentler Times, in Potting Soil archival ink.  Then I sponged Spun Sugar over the Tim Holtz Latticework stencil and edged it with Aged Mahogany.

I know this was a very long, but important, post.  Thanks for sticking with me to the end.  And please check back tomorrow to see if you are the winner of a $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Here is a small photo of the Springtime in Paris piece that is up for silent auction to benefit Linda Payne's family.  If you are interested, you can check out the post here. (NOTE:  The silent auction is now closed and the piece sold for $30).

Duh Me, here I checked everybody’s link but mine. It is wrong on everyone’s blog. It is showing as: http://cardartetc.blogspot.com/ and you get “Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist.” The correct link is:
