Dreaming of Paris

Hi ya friends, followers and visitors, I'm back today with my weekly project for Artistic Outpost.  I was very much inspired by my teamie Cec's Paris piece last week and also want to do something in black and white.  So I got out my Paris Exposition set from Artistic Outpost and started to play.  I first  used the two text/ad stamps from the plate and stamped them randomly onto a jumbo manila tag using Jet Black archival. Then I broke out a Tim Holtz Harlequin stencil and some of Wendy Vecchi's black embossing paste and stenciled the harlequin pattern in upper and lower quadrants.
Okay, coming along nicely.  I then used the TH Eiffel Tower die and matching texture fade to cut the Eiffel Tower and the Fleur di lis from white card stock. Once cut, I ran them through the texture fade to emboss them.  They needed color and I was about to make them silver when I realized that I was leaning toward a black and gold color scheme so I swiped them with Tarnished Brass distress stain.  When dry, I sponged the high points and edges with black ink.
Then it was time to create some sort of flower cluster.  I cut white card stock using the Tattered Flowers decorative strip die, the Tattered Florals die.  Then, going on the premise that you can never have too many flower dies, I tore open the brand new Tattered Florals Jumbo die, which was used for the bottom two flower layers.  I stamped each flower layer with the Le Ballon stamp from the set in Jet Black archival, then sponged the edges with black in and sponged over the entire flower again with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I curled the edges and layered the pieces.  Once glued together I misted it with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls mist.  I cut a flourish with the Elegant Flourishes die and two leaves with the Tattered Flowers decorative strip die from black card stock and coated them liberally with glossy accents, then covered them with Black Soot distress glitter and tapped off the excess.
Someone asked me recently how I get such good coverage with the distress glitter.  Sorry, I don't remember who it was, but it seemed like they did not use enough Glossy Accents.  I took a photo of a leaf that I was going to glitter (it turned out to be too large and I didn't use it for this project).  Hopefully you can see how thick the coat of Glossy Accents was.  I try to make sure I get the glitter on pretty quickly before it starts to dry.  If I am glittering a large piece, I do it in sections so the Glossy Accents doesn't start to dry before I dump the glitter on.  Don't press it down.  Just completely cover it with glitter, wait a minute and then gently tap off the excess and set aside to dry.
I really love the way the black distress glitter looks on the leaf and flourish on this tag.

That's about it.  I recently purchased some of the Paris glass dome cabochons for the boutique and have them listed in sets of three.  They are small but I think then make a nice embellishment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
