Just Playing Around

I was so excited to get some new Wendy Vecchi products into the Boutique and couldn't resist dipping into my stock to play around.  I think the Dots and Stripes Borders stencil is going to be a favorite go-to of mine.  I love the stripe borders and have always been a sucker for polka dots!

I started by stenciling Stormy Sky DI onto a jumbo manila tag. I like to use low tack painter's tape to hold in place stencils and thin dies as well as using it as a mask.  It's cheap and readily available.
After stenciling on the border stripes, I used Peeled Paint DI to stencil on the polka dots.  Next, using Jet Black archival, I used the script stamp from Live and Make Art.  I have always loved Wendy's background stamp and this worked beautifully.  Then it needed some sponging with Vintage Photo and was edged with Walnut Stain DI.  The background being done, I then mixed a drop of Weathered Wood reinker with some white Embossing Paste to create the flower, a drop of Peeled Paint reinker mixed with White Emobssing Paste for the stem and a drop of Scattered Straw reinker for the flower center.  (this looks so yummy, I wanted to take my finger and scoop some into my mouth, but I resisted :)

One thing that happened with this tag is that I stenciled the dots on with Distress Ink and then stenciled the embossing paste flower.  The polka dots bled up through the embossing paste.  They looked sort of watery so once the embossing paste was dry, I placed the polka dot stencil back over the flower and darkened the green polka dots.
The darling little flourishes are from the Daisy Art stamp set and the sentiment is also from Live and Make Art.  The supply links are listed below.  Wendy Vecchi products will always be 20% below MSRP at The Funkie Junkie Boutique and this week they are our Friday Focus products and are an additional 15% off.  Stock up now because the next challenge at Frilly and Funkie will be "Wendy Vecchi Style".  Hope you will play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week.

Love that you have made something that is Wendy Vecchi - 'Linda Coughlin style'. Love the choice of colours and the way you've made the background. And then the paste flower sets it all off perfectly. A vintage gem. Can't wait to get mine to play with now! Hugs, Jenny x

Embossing paste?? I'm nearly ecstatic over here as I've been using Plaster. It works, but I don't feel it's the same. Your tag is beautiful Linda and you're right, I think the stripes have my heart and the polka dots are a lovely distraction for the eyes too. ;)
hugs!!
