The Joy of Nature

Hello friends, I hope you are all having a terrific week.  I'm back today to share with you what I made for week two of Frilly and Funkie's The Great Outdoors challenge.  The requirements of the challenge are to make something with an outdoors theme and be sure to include a quote about nature.  I made a simple tag with just a couple of layers for this challenge, starting with a base jumbo tag that I had used recently to mop up ink that was left over on my craft sheet.  It was mostly Adirondack Meadow Color Wash.  I had grabbed a blank tag to use up the left over ink, dried it and stuck it away for later.  Today I got it out and ran it through the Patchwork texture fade.  With these larger tags, you have to run them through twice with the TF sideways covering half of the tag each time.  Once embossed, it was sponged with Vintage Photo DI.

The sentiment panel was stamped on vanilla CS with Coffee archival ink and stamped with a leaf from the Old Grist Mill plate from Artistic Outpost.  I colored it with several fall colored distress markers and then lightly misted the stamp.  I love the watercolor effect that water stamping gives.  Then that panel was also sponged with Vintage photo DI.  I notched the corners using an old SU punch and strung some burlap thread through the notches.  I sponged the ripped edge of the cardboard with Vintage Photo DI and then dotted Versamark along the edge with a Versamark pen.  Then I embossed with a combination of UTEE and gold EP.  The letters were cut out from Color Core'Dinations CS using the Vintage Market decorative strip die and layered over another set of the letters cut from dark brown CS. Double layering with darker letters behind and slightly offset helps give these small letters more dimension and pop.

My leaves were cut with the Mini Tattered Leaves Movers and Shapers die from acrylic packaging and inked with alcohol inks colors:  gold mixative, Terra Cotta, Meadow and Latte.  I just put a couple of drops of each color on the felt applicator and added a squirt of Blender Solution and applied 2-3 coats to each acrylic leaf allowing it to dry between each coat.  Then I heated each leaf with my heat gun and gave it some gentle curves.  I love the Tattered Leaves dies and the mini M&S Tattered Leaves are just the perfect size for adding to cards and tags.  My flower is just a single layer of canvas cut with an old Cuttlebug die and colored with a mix of Scattered Straw reinker with a little Rusty Hinge blended in.

It's ll tied up with a snippet of gold mesh ribbon and the last little bit of green gingham ribbon I have (must find more!).  That's it for me this week.  I hope you'll check out the rest of the inspiration over at Frilly and Funkie.    Thanks for stopping by.  I hope the rest of your week is wonderful!
