It' Time To Play The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas!

 

Welcome back to the second year of The 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style!  I had an absolute blast last year running this challenge and some of last year's players have expressed interest in doing it again so here it is, back again for its second year.  Here are the dets for this challenge.

• This is an inspiration challenge. Each week, I will post my tag and you will use it to be inspired to make something. You can enter any sort of craft. It can be a tag, a card, a home decor project, a scrapbook layout - your choice but please make it winter/holiday related. 
• You must take inspiration from something on my tag and tell us in your post what inspired you. You don't have to use my style, my layout, my colors, my theme or anything except be inspired by something on my sample. Your make can be shabby, it can be grungy or it can be clean and simple. I don't mind if you CASE my work, but if you do, please give me credit. 
• We will have 12 weekly challenges beginning today, Monday, September 17th. You can link your project using the linky provided. If you don't have a blog, you can use another hosting site such as SplitCoast Stampers or PhotoBucket, but you must link back to this challenge and tell us what inspired you. 
• To be eligible for the drawing at the end of the 12 weeks, you must: 1) enter all 12 challenges, 2) provide a link back to this challenge and mention that it is sponsored by my store The Funkie Junkie Boutique, with a link to the boutique. 
• All 12 challenges will remain open until December 17th. You can play any challenge up through that date. To be eligible to win, you must have submitted an entry into all 12 of these challenges by midnight Eastern Time December 17th. 
• At the end of the 12 weeks, from the pool of players who participated in every single challenge and provided a link to the challenge on my blog and a link to my store on their post, I will draw three winners. There will be one $50 grand prize gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique given out plus two runner up prizes of $25 gift certificates. 

Here's your inspiration piece for Week #1. I am going to make tags for all 12 weeks, using the Jumbo tags that I sell in the boutique.  Starting with a jumbo manila tag, I did the Marbled Stains technique using the new Tarnished Brass metallic distress stain (Marbled Stains - page 46 Compendium of Curiosities 2).  LOVE that way it came out.  Then I stamped the flourish stamp with Tea Dye DI and sprinkled the new sticky embossing powder on, tapped it off and heated it.  When hot and shiny, I poured the new Stickles Distress Dry Glitter on it and it stuck - very cool.  Here's a shot I took of the tag so far.

I cut the 25 using my new Cargo Numbers die from white chipboard and coated with Tarnished Brass metallic stain.  I gave them a little pop by backing them with a brown set of numbers.  I must say, the numbers cut with this die are tricky because they come out in pieces.  It's kind of a fiddley process to lay them out properly.  The stars were cut with an old Sizzix die also from white chipboard and painted with Tarnished Brass DS, then run through the Snow Flurries Texture Fade.  I used some jewelry findings for centers painted with gold alcohol ink mixative.

The rusty heart and lovely Venise lace wings are also from my boutique.  The sentiment/title was printed on my printer and cut with the Tattered Banner die. The sentiment was embossed with one light coat of UTEE and then I  the bottle of metallic stain and ran it around the edges.  I also dry brushed some stain on the rusty heart.
