Good morning and welcome to the April Artistic Outpost blog hop. We are using the Paris Exposition stamp set this month - one of my favorites! I decided on sort of a black and white theme for this piece, sort of because it's really not a pure white. I created a finely textured background to stamp on by taking a piece of Very Vanilla CS and painting it with a coarse brush and Claudine Hellmuth's Gesso. The gesso left a striped texture when dry and I stamped over it using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. All edges were sponged lightly with Vintage Photo DI.
It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but I did the same gesso painting on a smaller piece of Very Vanilla paper and then stamped it with "Exposition" text stamp in the same ink and then ran it through an SU sizzlit butterfly embossing/die. The LeBallon stamp was stamped on a ticket cut with the Tim Holtz M&S Ticket die and the black CS fleur de lis were cut with a Spellbinder's die. The flowers were cut with the new Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers decorative Strip die, colored with Tattered Rose distress stain and spritzed with Perfect Pearls Biscotti spray.
There you have it - another quick and easy card from me - but I really like the colors and the way it turned out. It looks nicer IRL where you can see the texture from the gesso.
Here's the blog hop roll, in case you are just jumping in or have become lost:
Gerrie Johnnic * Lisa Somerville * Suzanne Czosek * Anita Houston * Linda Coughlin * Tracy Evans * Yvonne Garner
Have fun visiting all these wonderful and inspiring artists! Thanks for stopping by!
UPDATE: A reader asked about the fleur de lis, yes it is a a Spellbinder's die.

Great card! Gotta try the technique you used with the gesso and stiff brush.
I don't see mention of the fleur di lis strip and how it was made. Guessing it's die. Please share.

Hi Linda. Thanks for deleting my first entry. Think I have the hang of linking posts now. I was having problems with my browser too, which meant that the site and posts were not responding properly. Changed to another browser and now working fine. Thanks for your patience and kind comments.
