Butterfly Garden

Our 15% off Friday Focus products at The Funkie Junkie Boutique this week are the filigree metals.  I've been surfing the net looking for wholesalers for these fun little products and found some great prices which have allowed me to reduce the prices on most of the filigrees.  Plus this week they are another 15% off.

I was responsible for doing our Friday Focus post over at Frilly and Funkie today so I put together this tag to highlight some of these fun products.  All of the metals started out bronze and I altered them, which I dearly love to do :)  For the butterflies at the top, I used the Weathered Copper Vintaj patina kit and then added a quick brush of the color Clay from the Rusted Hardware Vintaj patina kit to give it a little more verdigris feel - love the way they look with this treatment and so totally simple, you just paint it on.  Moving down the tag, the white butterfly was something I had made for an earlier project but hadn't used.  It was altered using the Ranger Antiquities embossing powder in Weathered White, then I sponged a bit of Vintage Photo over it because it was a bit too white for this piece.  For the daisy, I painted it with Snow Cap Alcohol ink fixative and the leaves were painted with the Vintaj Weathered Copper patina kit, then all the pieces were sanded slightly.

And that's it.  I just have so much fun using metals on my work.  Of course they can be used in their original bronze color, but there are so many possibilities for altering them.  One of my customers told me last week that she used the Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stains to alter a bronze key and it came out terrific.  I use embossing powders and the Vintaj patinas plus Alcohol Inks on occasion.  So check out Friday Focus at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, it's a great time to stock up on these little gems!

These products used to make this tag can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique:
