From Darkness into Light

Hello and welcome back to my make for Part II of the How Can You Resist challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.  This week the Funkie team has posted some gorgeous inspiration with lots of fun resist techniques.

Here is my take on the grungy side of resist.  I had in mind sort of an urban grunge theme creating resist with stamps from Tim Holtz's Ultimate Grunge set.  And I am still totally hooked on mixing Black soot distress stain with Pewter Perfect Pearls powder on my craft sheet and dredging paper through it.  I started with one of the #12 tags I sell in the boutique and clear embossed stamps from Ultimate Grunge.    I had a page from an old book that I had also stamped on in Multi Medium Matte and ripped a strip of that, gluing it all the way down the center of the tag.  Then I applied the Black Soot DS/Pewter PP.  Rather than resisting, the MMM on the book page totally absorbed the distress stain.  You can see some it - very black and shiny - near the bottom.  Looking at the bare tag with just the resist going on, I had a flash of inspiration to do a theme "From Darkness into Light" and added clear rhinestones to connect the black flowers thus drawing them into the light and finally connecting them to a Wendy Vecchi stamped butterfly that was coated with the new Stickles dry glitter (unfortunately SOLD OUT in the store and now backordered).

The flowers were cut from brown packing paper with the Tattered Flowers die and dredged through the left over black and silver puddles on my craft sheet.  I topped it off with an inspirational sentiment and bright white mesh ribbon with a sparkly white tie to draw the eye into the light.

I know it's probably a little hoaky as art goes, but I had fun with it.   And it's really nicer looking IRL than the photos show - isn't that always the case?

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have you been over to Frilly and Funkie?  Terry, Anita and Marjie have some great resist inspiration pieces to share.

What a creative tag, Linda! I love the rich color from your dredging and especially the way you've treated the ticket.
