Autumn Resist

Hello friends!  I'm here to share a tag I made this weekend for my weekly Artistic Outpost guest post.  I decided to use Tim Holtz's Kraft Resist technique found on page 41 of the Compendium of Curiosities 2 book.  That's the challenge this week over at Linda Ledbetter's CC2C challenge.   I decided to go with that fall feeling and kept the kraft/monotone theme with a couple of pops of color.  Instead of using colored ink or stain for the resist, I went with Picket Fence Distress Stain, a good coat of it and then blended it in with a paper towel.  After that, images were stamped from the Artistic Outpost Bluebird plate on the kraft resist paper in Archival Sepia.  Cutting a harlequin strip of Core'Dinations Kraft Core, I sanded the edges with my sanding grip.  With the Mini Leaves Movers and Shapers, leaves were cut from crinkled up parchment paper and then randomly dabbed them with various alcohol inks and gold mixative using an alcohol ink applicator.  The crinoline sunflower is left from my last fall's stash of a few extras I had.  You can see my tutorial here to learn how I made it using the Tattered Florals and Tattered Leaves dies.  Crinoline is available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I dove into the Vintaj stash using the Ambrosial Leaves, the Nouveau Roses Vintaj metal embossing folder and Retro Highway patna set, first embossing, then painting and then burnishing to take the patina off the raised areas.  I affixed it with a Mini Fastener, added a piece of jute ribbon with my Tiny Attacher and tied the button on with a bit of burlap string.

And that's that!  Thanks for stopping by and please know that I do appreciate all your lovely comments!  Have a great week.

This is beautiful! I really like the colours you've used and the flower just finishes it off so well.

Linda, this is gorgeous! I saw it on the Artistic Outpost blog yesterday, and was stopped dead to look at every little detail. I've been hoarding my sunflower you made, it just may be time to use it on a kraft resist project. (But only after I try making my own ... love them!)

I love your work, Linda...it's always edgy, but beautiful. The texture in this piece is fabulous...and the crinoline flowers are just wonderful!

Thought I was going slightly mad then... was so sure I'd left a comment on this - but of course I must have done it over at AO! Still... it bears repeating: gorgeous, gorgeous autumnal tag, and I'm still in love with your tattered leaves!
