Flowers FORBIDDEN!!

Look out!  Really tough challenge coming atcha this week from Our Creative Corner.  This week it's Kristin's turn to set the challenge and she set one that I seriously didn't think I could do.  And it's the first week too for our new designers.  This week we are welcoming Anne Marie Hile,  Marjie Kemper, Holly Kean and Tui Nathan.

Kristin showed us a yummy, lovely, colorful picture of gorgeous flowers to use for our inspiration and then she said we had to make a card with NO FLOWERS.  Oh, the pain.  Here's the photo - look at all the gorgeousness and I couldn't accompany my card with flowers anywhere - not on the DP and certainly not on the image - really - it's seriously difficult to totally eradicate flowers when designing a card.  Nonsense, I say, shouldn't be allowed - LOL!
But ever a challenge trooper, I dug in and went with the gorgeous rose pinks, yellows and a smattering of green.  And here is the result.  On a base of Barely Banana, I layered an embossed kraft CS sheet and then stitched down a lovely pink sheet of ancient stash Cosmo Cricket Hey Sugar DP.   That was followed up with three scallop layers using a PTI die and the two-year old MME Breaking Free series (polka dots) and Barely Banana.  I ran a piece of Jute Mesh Ribbon across the top of the scallops and then topped that off with seam binding dyed with Certainly Celery.  A sweet mini Kaft envelope from my shop is the mail focal item.  I embossed and ink distressed it and topped it off with a cap of doily that I sponged with Barely Banana. The sentiment is from Speedy the Cat's Designer Selection and the clothes pin and tiny filigree are also from my Etsy Shop.   The butterfly and rhinestones are the finishers for this card.

Whew, it was a job, but I finally produce

d a card that I was happy with for this inspiration challenge.  How about you?  Stop by the OCC challenge blog to get a dose of mojo and then see what you can come up with for this challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I thank you kindly for all the lovely compliments on my work.

Linda, I don't know how it could've been such a challenge because this is just gorgeous! You did a fabulous job on the challenge! I love that you make everything so interesting. Not just a clothes pin but a clothes pin with embellishment on it. Not just a butterfly but a butterfly with embossing, stamping, and bling! Unbelievable! It's all gorgeous!

Your card is lovely, Linda. I bet you had a very tough time not adding one of your gorgeous crinoline flowers to this! I am noticing your strips of burlap/rough fiber a lot lately, too. What a great contrast to the other soft elements. Have a great day!

This is another wonderful Linda creation and you don't do flowers very well. I must say that showing you flower photos as inspiration is kind of mean :) You did rise to the challenge and all your embellished goodies are fabulous.
Hugs!
Cec

Linda, every single part of your card is gorgeous! So many beautiful details on every single element. Wow! I especially like that strip of burlap you added. It adds so much to the card as a whole. I have to go back and look at this beauty again to make sure I didn't miss anything...

Have a happy day! Hugs! :)

It's funny to realize how reliant we are on flowers. It's my go-to embellishment when I have to add something pretty to my card. This challenge was a struggle for me too! (also, whenever I hear that I can't do something, it makes me want to do it even more!)

I love what you made, and the little envelope and clothespin is my favorite part! Hope you have a super weekend!

Linda, I have to agree, it was very difficult not to put a flower on the card! But, your flower-less card is fabulous! like always! I love how you added a butterfly and that cute pocket envelope! It reminds me of one of those old time coin envelopes. Fabulous card!

Simply gorgeous, as usual!! While you weren't able to use flowers, every other single embellishment made this a very interesting, feminine and full on vintage style card. Love it!!
