I'm back today with my Wednesday post for Frilly and Funkie. This is week two, the Funkie week, of Jenny's Eat, Drink and Be Merry challenge and I'm piling it on with the challenges. I made this tag not only to fit the F&F challenge, but also to qualify for Tim Holtz's September tag challenge which is to use layering stencils and also the private Yahoo group Everything Wendy Vecchi challenge this month is to use Wendy's embossing paste. Well, it's all here - LOL!
I started with a jumbo manila tag and stamped the pear image in Jet Black archival ink, then used Picket Fence distress paint and Wendy's "This is Tag Art" stencil. At the bottom, I used Wendy's white embossing paste and her From the Garden stencil. I let it sit for awhile and thinking it was dry, I laid the stencil back over and used Tim's checkerboard stamp from the Ultimate Grunge set, stamping with Jet Black archival. I pressed the stamp in very firmly and when I pulled it off, I realized the embossing paste wasn't fully hardened and it ended up making the checkerboard pattern right into the embossing paste. Unfortunately it stuck to the stamp in a couple of places and pulled away from the tag, but other than that, it actually looks great (a happy accident). Next I scribbled on my craft sheet with Scattered Straw distress stain, misted it a bit and laid my tag in it, dried it with my heat tool and then did it again with Peeled Paint distress stain. I dried it again with my heat tool and then did the black stenciling with Jet Black archival ink. Since Tim added quite a few layers, I added another vine too sponging it with Rusty Hinge distress ink. The "This is Tag Art" in the Picket Fence distress paint didn't show up much so I rubbed a bit of Rusty Hinge DI over it and it popped a bit. Chit Chit stickers were added a la Mr. Holtz and I embellished the piece with an enameled tag with a Remnant Rub on it.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and thank you for any comments you care to leave too.
The following supplies were used to make this tag and are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, where Ranger/Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi products are always 20% off MSRP.
