A Peek Through a Window

This week, Jenny is our host over at Frilly and Funkie and her challenge to us is "Holiday Destinations Through a Window".  We are to make something showing a favorite holiday destination and our creations must include a window.

I decided on Paris for my holiday destination.  I've never been there, but hope to go sometime.  I used the Artistic Outpost Paris Exposition set for my stamping.  This is a double tag.  I actually made a folded tag like I did last week, but ended up gluing it shut so it's really no different than a two layer tag, which a window cut in the front with a Movers and Shapers die.  I used Pion Design Fairytale of Spring striped paper so it would look like wall paper, but it looked a little boring so I also dry embossed that layer.  The stamped layer was sponged with Tattered Rose DI and edged with Walnut Stain.  I used the Eiffel Tower die to cut the Fleur di Les and embossed it with Eiffel Tower texture fade and sponged it with Vintage Photo.  A little vintage netting and a pink resin rose top off the fleur di les.  A little Eiffel Tower charm from my boutique and a shabby seam binding bow create a finishing touch.

That's it for this week's Frilly and Funkie make.  Be sure to stop by Frilly and Funkie to check out the rest of the team's holiday destinations.

Another White Wedding

I'm back today to share the card I  made for the Funkie side of Rebecca's Wedding White Plus One Color challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.  I didn't post it on Wednesday, the day of the challenge, because I had a post that day for the Artistic Outpost release of the wonderful new Boardwalk plate, which by the way it and all AO stamps are on sale this week at The Funkie Junkie Boutique for 15% off.

For my card, I used the delightful new Cameo Frame M&S die coupled with the Sized Ovals M&S die to cut the opening.  I painted the die cut chipboard with Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint.  I found the vintage image of the wedding couple on the internet and resized it so it would fit the frame.  The background panel was white CS, stamped in Jet Black archival ink with several Tim Holtz stamp sets.  The flowers were all cut with the Tattered Flowers Decorative Strip die, white CS edged with Vintage Photo DI.  The leaves were also white CS, cut with an older Sizzlet die, sponged with Bundled Sage DI and edged with Vintage Photo, then clear embossed for a little texture.  I added some tulle to further the wedding theme.  The rusted metal hearts are from the boutique and Chit Chat stickers were used for the sentiment.

That's it.  All the products used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Just click the thumbnail below to take you to the store listing.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you are having a great weekend!  I am - my SIL, who is visiting us this week, and I did a 33 mile bike ride yesterday.  Here's a little pic - it was the Hawthorn Trail, a gorgeous paved nature trail built on an old unused rail bed.

Butterflies - A Sneak Peek

Good morning friends.  I have a Saturday StepxStep tutorial over on the Frilly and Funkie blog today.  I had had some questions on the alcohol inking I did on the fish post recently so I did a little tutorial on it.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

I hope you will join us on the hop and check out the sensational design team work with this new plate.  Here is the hop line up:

GerrieLisa * Suzanne * Tracy * Alison * Terry * Kate *

And now the details on my card.  I decided to create a vintage style post card using these fabulous images.  It required quite a bit of masking.  I started by stamping the Atlantic City seals in both lower corners and then stamped the three shells in the middle.  Then they were masked off and I stamped the first set of 3 bathing beauties.  I then masked them and stamped a second set of 3 bathing beauties.  Then I peeled away all the masking tape and you can see the result.  It was heavily sponged with Vintage Photo and given the water flicking treatment.

Office Ephemera was used to randomly stamp the background layer using Jet Black archival and then sponged with Faded Jeans.  I created some faux postage stamps using the new Postage Stamp movers and shapers die, stamped them with  the shell stamps and then "cancelled" them using the stamp from Office Ephemera.

The starfish was cut with an old Cuttlebug die and then embossed a mixture of Antique Linen and Tea Dye distress embossing powders, resulting in a grainy, sandy finish which was perfect for the starfish.

That wraps it up for my hop participation.  Hope you enjoyed it1

White Wedding

Hi all, I have to apologize because I meant to post this card on Thursday and completely forgot that I hadn't.  I made it for Rebecca's challenge over at Frilly and Funkie which is wedding white plus one color.  Rebecca says "The season of weddings is quickly approaching and our challenge is to produce a card or project that used white plus a color. Many couples are reaching for their favorite hues when planning their wedding celebrations and many brides are adopting colors along with white. For this weeks challenge at Frilly and Funkie, create a card or project with a wedding theme that uses white plus an additional color."

I didn't post it on Wednesday because I had two other posting going up that day and wanted to save this for another day.  Being an old fashioned, white wedding sort of girl, I wanted to stay mostly with white and used the Springtime texture fade to create the background then overlaid a white doily.  For my color, I started with one of the sweet baby pink Venise heart appliques that I sell in the boutique.  The rose resin fit perfectly in the center to pull everything together.  I added some gorgeous white Venise lace and then hand painted the white tri-bud appliqués to match the heart.

The sentiment is from Tim Holtz's Simple Sayings stamp set, stamped on a Tattered Banners die cut.  I added a matching shabby seam binding bow and a stick pin to finish it off.  Very simple, but I thought it came out rather pretty.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great weekend!
