Hearts and Flowers

I'm back today with my weekly post for Our Creative Corner, this week working off a sketch created by this week's host, Paula McClane.

I struggled with this a bit.  I have been using fewer layers recently and for this I dug out some designer paper.  I didn't use as many designs as the sketch called for, using the yellow striped on both edges.  I just couldn't seem to find another pattern that I thought worked and I didn't want it to be too busy.  Now that it is all together, I am wishing I had dragged out my sewing machine and added some stitching.  I need to get my sewing machine so it is easier to use.  I am pretty cramped for space in our new home and it's a hassle to get it out and set it up each time I want to use it.

I did a little paper piercing and stenciling with a Spellbinders die for the left side and used a straight doily on the right.  The stamping is all done with the Artistic Outpost Flower Market stamp using Jet Black archival ink.  The main focal piece was cut with a Spellbinders die and given a double coat of UTEE.  I painted the long brads black with Vintaj patina paint from the Retro Highway set.  The heart was cut with the large Love Struck die and colored with Barn Door distress stain, as was the rayon seam binding.  I stamped it, edged it with Black Soot DI and then coated it with Glossy Accents.

I still had a bit of seam binding dyed with Barn Door floating around my desk from the Valentine's tag and it matched the flower in the DP so I decided to use it and stamped my sentiment on it with Jet Black archival.
