February Artistic Outpost Release

Whoohoo!! I'm still so excited to be a guest designer for Artistic Outpost.  This is the first month I have been through a new release with them.  It was so wonderful to be able to get the plates early and have them to play with and use to make the samples.  And now the big day for the February release is here!!

Introducing four new stamp releases…

The wait is finally over. Artistic Outpost is pleased to bring to you four brand new rubber stamp collections that are vintage, edgy, and extremely artful.

We are happy to present: Diesel Punk, Charles & Amelia, Industrial Chic, and London Elements.

What is Diesel Punk? What happened to Steampunk? We still very much love the Victorian magic that is the rage of steampunk, however, we decided to advance the timeline and the trend to a more modern look. It’s like steampunk but with a combustion engine. To us, Diesel Punk is a style that blends the “edge” of steampunk with the art and culture of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. We think of motorcycles, roadsters, red lipstick, trench coats, jetpacks, and jet engines. Three of our new releases evoke our interpretation of this style.

Diesel Punk:

Includes images of good looking guys, a beautiful dame, a kid ready to be a rocketeer, and fast machines to tempt their fates. 

Charles & Amelia:

Images featuring the king and queen of the skies when flying was more than transportation – it was an adventure.

Industrial Chic:

Backgrounds for any of your projects – steam, diesel, or any other kind of punk.

London Elements:

More of our favorite images featuring the fun icons of London.

A Pop of Victorian Velvet

Happy Saturday friends! So happy to have you visiting again.  Since it's Saturday, it must be time for another challenge over at Our Creative Corner.  This week Tui Nathan is our hostess and she is challenging us to make a black and white project and then add a pop of color.  I started out with the black and white and thought I did good achieving that color palette.  Then came time for the pop of color and I probably let myself get a little carried away with the Victorian Velvet.

Don't you just love this Wendy Vecchi stamp?  It has such a lovely look - like vintage lace.  I stamped onto white CS with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink.  The stamp wasn't large enough to cover the entire tag so I filled in the blank space at the bottom with script stamp from Wendy's Live and Make Art set.  To cover the joining and give some extra white, I layered some white paper twist ribbon over it.  The sentiment was stamped on the Movers and Shapers Mini Label and then it was given just one coat of UTEE and sponged with Victorian Velvet. I had a scrap of the millinery netting floating around my desk from another project I worked on this week and thought it added just the right touch to my little vintage creation.  That stuff was super expensive, but I picked u a few yards to sell in my Etsy as I had several requests for it and it does make a fun addition to a make.

The flower was made with the TH Tattered Florals die and coated with UTEE using my melting pot and an old paint brush.  Tutorial here.

Pion Designs - Gorgeous Vintage Style Papers - New in The Funkie Junkie Boutique

 Just a quick preview of these wonderful Pion Designs paper crafting papers that I have started carrying in The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  This set is From My Heart II 6x6" papers.  They are just loaded with sweet soft colors and lovely vintage images.

 The set contains six single sided sheets with four 6x6" designs on each sheet.

 The set also includes three 12x12 sheets - one of tags, one of cut outs and one of borders.  These sheets are double sided with printed paper on the back.

Suffragette City

Welcome back, friends!  I'm participating in my very first blog hop as a guest designer for Artistic Outpost.  I chose to work with the Loverly London set from Artistic Outpost.  I really love their vintage photograph style of stamps. There were just so many ways I could have gone with this set, but I don't think I have seen many pieces made with the suffragette so I chose to go that route.  My card became a tribute to the women to made so many sacrifices for women's rights.  It's sort of ironic because I had a discussion with someone just last week about the importance of women's right to vote and was reflecting that that had happened in 1920 - only 32 years before I was born.  It hardly seems possible that it was that short of a time ago - less than 100 years and look how far we have come!  But we should never forget and never let our daughters forget about how women were second class citizens who had very few rights at all and how hard and how violently women had to fight to start that process of change.

Okay, so enough about the history lesson.  I used the national colors of Britain for my card, combining them with a good dose of kraft. The bottom layer is Night of Navy embossed with the Tim Holtz Patchwork folder and then swiped with Picket Fence Distress Stain to give it a chalky white effect. I created a post card with a stamp from Ephemeral Backgrounds and used it to carry the British suffragette slogan "Votes for Women" made with Tim Holtz's Chip Block alphabet, cut from black CS and coated with Crackle Accents.  I made a little ballot holder with a kraft sleeve and ran it though my printer to print the word Ballot on it, then stamped LONDON across it with a stamp from the set.  I made little ballot on my computer to slip into the BALLOT sleeve.  The suffragette was stamped with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink on white CS and sponged with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I cut the edges with deckle cut scissors.  The double rosette was cut with the Mini Rosette die and at the last minute I cut a strip of red with the Vintage Lace die and adhered it along the top edge of the post card.  I thought the card was a bit stark and masculine looking and I wanted to make a statement that women are equal to men, but we don't have to sacrifice our feminine side to that equality.

Good morning friends!  I'm back today to share a shabby little card that I made for the Best Friend challenge over at Our Creative Corner.  Our hostess with the mostess this week is again Sharon Wheet and she wants us to make a card for our best friend and include a flower, which can be hand made, store bought or stamped.

I was SO excited to get my hands on these shabbilicious designer papers from Pion Designs in Sweden.  The papers I used here are from the From My Heart II 6x6" collection.  And I am so excited to share with you that several different paper sets from Pion Designs will be available beginning Wednesday in my Etsy shop.  I purchased 4 different Pion Designs collections for the Etsy shop.

Now, I will tell you I made a "mistake" on the card.  It's missing a normal layer.  I always put a layer of card stock between the base and the design layer.  But unfortunately I cut the design layer paper just a tad too large and I had already stitched on the post card before I discovered it so I couldn't cut it down any more.  So I stamped on the base layer and then offset the design layer to give it a little more dimesion, but it still looks a little flat to me.

The designer paper and the post card are both part of the paper set, as is the sentiment "To a dear friend".  They are all scissor distressed and sponged with Creamy Caramel (retired SU) ink.  I dyed lace from my Etsy shop in coffee and used it along the bottom edge of the post card.  The darling little Venise lace heart is hand painted with a rosy shade of dye and the crinoline flower was dyed with Tattered Rose distress stain and cut with both the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and Mini Tattered Florals dies, both of which will be back in stock in my shop on Wednesday.

The sentiment element was made with a piece of the white burlap I sell in the shop and the sentiment cut out of the paper pack.  I gave it a shabby, tattered freehand cut. The tiny tribud appliques started out white and I hand painted them with Tattered Rose distress stain.

Oh, and I used my Viva Decor Pearl Pen to make the pearls on the mini clothes pin.
