I have a new favorite distress color - Milled Lavender! I don't know why but everything I ever think I don't like from the Tim Holtz line and then I try it, I love it. No exception here. I never opened anything Milled Lavender because the label is so pale and almost colorless. But I needed a lavender shade to dye the seam binding we used for a thank you kit at the shop last week and I opened a Milled Lavender spray stain, used it to dye the seam binding and wow! We all LOVED the way it looked. So this week when I made my Frilly piece for the kick off of our new challenge at Frilly and Funkie, I just had to use this lovely shabby pinky purple shade.
I started with an A2 size piece of white CS and embossed it with an order Tim Holtz texture fade. I sprayed it with Milled Lavender distress spray stain, dried it with my heat tool and applied Rock Candy Crackle paint. It curled up because it was just card stock and not chipboard. Flattening out when dry, I inked the edges with Vintage Photo. I used the Wendy Vecchi gingham stamp from Nature's Art and Milled Lavender DI to stamp the backing panel for the card. The card shell was white CS and I sponged the edges with sort of a blend of a little Mowed Lawn and a lot of Bundled Sage. (I guess I should have used more green. The green looks really washed out in the photo.) Then I stamped Tim's cracked stamp around the parameter in Vintage Photo for a little interest.
A tag was cut from a pretty vintage image I downloaded from the Internet. The triple loop bow and the tiny Venise lace flower appliqués were stained with Milled Lavender. My "Hello" and the Tim Holtz gumdrop were both rubbed with Ink Gold Old Silver and then gone over with Old Gold.
I used a gorgeous Spellbinders die to cut the lovely heart filigree. I used a tiny flower created from the Tattered Flowers decorative strip die and some tiny filigree leaves to create a corner element. The filigree metal leaves were also rubbed with Inka Gold Old Silver (I can't seem to get enough of that stuff!).
I had lots of frilly fun making my card for this week's challenge. Hope to see you playing long with us over at Frilly and Funkie.
These products were used to make the card above and are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi products are always 20% below MSRP.
Boy have you made that Milled Lavender colour the star of the show here! It works perfectly with crackle and that adorable pansy tag. I love how you've altered the little lace roses too. Jenny x

Wow Linda, I am totally rethinking my views on Milled Lavender right now! This is just stunning! I love the little flower tag and the big loopy bow! Your different ways of adding crackle are amazing, I love the contrast of the soft purple against the brown stamped backing! hugs :)
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful, Linda!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Linda! I know what you mean about not liking something because of the packaging and then trying it and loving it! The Milled Lavender is so lovely the way you've used it!
ReplyDeleteWow... gorgeous, Linda!

ReplyDeleteLinda this is Wonderful - I love the color. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda, this is just stunning! Amazing crackle on that lavender background, the tag looks wonderful too, and I love the bow!! Fabulous all round!
ReplyDeleteSuper pretty. I love the crackle on top of the embossed panel, the very sweet die cut, the dotted ribbon and that vintage image. I have always been disappointed in Milled Lavender but am going to get the spray because it obviously has more intense colour than the pad (even after it is re-inked).

Wow Linda perfect way to show off so much crackle... lovely creation. The tiny peek of the gingham layer was my fav part - silly as it seems - it just made it super fine! j.
