I'm back again with week #2 of our Frilly and Funkie 3-D cube challenge. I don't know why I went with a Halloween theme again this time...I tried Autumn, I tried Christmas but nothing was working until I went back to the Halloween theme. This week I chose to make clear cubes using Wendy Vecchi's Clearly for Art with Frosted Film layered over it. After the plastic was cut, I ran it through the cobweb texture face and sponged a little Black Soot ink over the raised embossed areas. As I creased the blocks on the score lines, I had a bit of trouble with the plastic cracking on the score lines. It broke all the way through in a couple of areas. I'm not sure if I would recommend using clear plastic sets for these blocks as the whole piece is pretty fragile.
The blocks were filled with candy corn. The Vintage Lace die was used to cut white card stock, which was then colored black with a Black Soot distress stain dabber. Once dry, I covered it with Glossy Accents and sprinkled on Black Soot distress glitter. The same glitter adhesion process was used for the spider, cat and the BOO.
I created a double rosette in black and orange for the topper and glued my cat straight up with Ranger Multi Media Matt. And that's that! Not a very detailed project, but I did have fun eating the candy corn :) Thanks so much for stopping by today. Now why don't you hop over to Frilly and Funkie to see the really great pieces made by my team mates?
These items used to make the above project are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, where Tim Holtz/Wendy Vecchi/Ranger and other name brand products are always 20% below MSRP.
