Gratitude


 Hi friends, I'm back today with a tag I made for my weekly DT post over at Artistic Outpost.  I made this after watching Wendy Vecchi's sensational demo video from CHA showing a technique she created using her beautiful archival inks and rubbing alcohol.  If you haven't watched it, you can find it here.  I'll be ordering lots of archival reinkers and Specialty Stamping Paper for the boutique because I know this is going to be a popular background technique.

Anyway, I decided to try it on the non-branded jumbo tags I sell in the boutique.  It didn't work nearly as well as it does with the Specialty Stamping Paper because the tags are not coated and thus they very quickly absorb the alcohol mixture rather than letting it sit on top and run and blend.  But I liked the colors (Cornflower Blue and Orange Blossom) and it did make some nice staining so I decided to run with it as a first try.  After the ink/alcohol had dried, I stenciled with the Dot Fade stencil and Cornflower Blue archival ink.  The images from the Flower Market plate were stamped with Jet Black archival ink and the edges were sponged with Walnut Stain DI.   The heart was stamped with Potting Soil archival ink, edged inked with Frayed Burlap and misted with Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold mist.

My embellishments were simple - a few gold half pearls and a filigree butterfly.  Plus I cut a piece of white card stock with the Harlequin Border die stamped it with the ledger stamp from Ephemera Backgrounds, sponged it with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain DI.

That's it - very simple with not much layering and just a couple of embellishments.  But I love the artsy vintage feel of the stamp set and think the colors are wonderful too.  Hope you like it.

    Wendy's technique is wonderful and I think it looks beautiful on your tag (albeit more absorbent than the speciality paper. I love the stamps you have used and that butterfly is gorgeous. Hugs, Anne x

    So very pretty! I peeked at the tech but I don't have the archival reinkers or the fancy paper :). It creates a unique background, doesn't it.

    Lovely, lovely tag - the background is really pretty, even if it worked slightly differently (glad to see you're going to be stocking Archival reindeers - I think you're still in Christmas mode!)...
