It's time for week two of Donna's April in Paris challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Here's my take on the funkie side of things, well I should say I set out to make something a little more funkie than this. I think I strayed over to the shabby chic side of things. Oh well, at least I got the Paris part right - I used the large background stamp from Papillon set and spelled out Paris using the Industrious Stickers - Cirque which I have fallen in love with.
I started by cutting the Postage Stamp frame (Movers and Shapers Base Die) out two times from chipboard. I used the largest of the Sized Rectangles inside the Postage Stamp Frame to actually create a frame of sorts. I glued the two die cuts together to give the frame some dimension, then painted it with gesso to make it white. It was too white so once try, I sponged it with old paper and then sponged the very edges with Vintage Photo DI. I stamped the BG stamp onto white CS and then sponged it liberally with Vintage Photo DI. My "I left my" sentiment was computer generated, printed on white CS, cut with the Tattered Banners die and then sponged with Vintage Photo. The same for the tiny flowers that were cut with the Tattered Florals decorative strip die.
I used a bronze metal floral corner that I painted silver with Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and added a large ivory resin heart that I also sponged with Vintage Photo DI. I mounted it all on a piece of corrugated cardboard that I dry brushed with white gesso. I also added an easel backing so the piece can be set on a desk or a shelf.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and for all your lovely comments!
