We are to take inspiration from the colors and must include a fabric flower and a crown. I've had a super busy week and didn't have much time for crafting but I managed to come up with a tag for Meihsia's challenge.
I started with one of my favorite jumbo tags and covered it with a piece of digital paper that I printed on my home printer. The digital paper was created by very talented Astrid McLean and shared as a freebie on her blog Astrid's Artistic Efforts. If you haven't visited Astrid's blog, you need to. Her work is amazing and she generously shares lots of wonderful digital vintage images - mostly tags and papers that she has created herself.
I did a little distressing/sponging around the edges and enhanced the simplicity of the piece with a bit of zigzag sewing. I layered some sticky back canvas over a piece of chipboard and cut it with the Sewing Room die, than ran it through the Damask texture fade. My flower was cut from crinoline with both the Tattered Florals and Mini Tattered Florals dies. They were already cut and died in my stash so I have no recollection of how I dyed them or what colors I used but they are a variety of pinks and rose shades. The little tri-bud appliques were white and I hand painted them in shades of pink. The filigree corner is from my store and I white embossed it to fit the shabby theme.
The Just Celebrate sentiment is from the new Tim Holtz Simple Sayings stamp set, which I think will see a lot of use - many sentiments to fit so many occasions plus I love the little frame stamp to put them inside of. The crown is from Melissa Frances and is also available in my store, as is the Venise lace butterfly.
And that's it for my very simple Shabby Chic piece. Please take a look at the other designers' inspiration samples over at Our Creative Corner!
