A Pair of Hearts

Double click to enlarge and see details
This week I have a tag to share for my design team piece over at Artistic Outpost.   I was super inspired by Sue Carrington's fabulous post/tags over at Frilly and Funkie yesterday.  I played around with some distress stains and a stencil with the idea in mind of doing something spring like. It didn't come out too spring like nor did it come out as beautiful as Sue's, but I do like the blues and greens. I first swiped the entire tag with Evergreen Bough, laid down a stencil and the with the distress stain in a mister, I spritzed it with Peacock Feathers. Using Jet Black archival ink, I stamped images from Keeper and the trees from Home directly onto my tag. The edges were sponged with Vintage Photo and a bit of gesso was dry brushed on for interest.
The farm sign with the rooster weathervane was stamped with Jet Black archival directly onto a piece of bark. I also cut two hearts out of the bark with a Sizzix die. These bark pieces are really cool.  They are fairly thick and sort of rubbery.  I was afraid they would be brittle and crack easily, but they don't seem to be.  I held my breath and slowly put them through my Cuttlebug with the Sizzix BIGZ type dies and they cut beautifully.  I am trying to get a supply of the for my shop - stay tuned!

Also, the black label pull was silver but I wanted it black to coordinate better with the tag so I painted it using the black from the Vintaj patina Retro Highway set - gotta love those patina paints!  The HOME plates were enameled with two coats of UTEE.

And that's my inky fun for this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great Sunday.

The supplies below used to make this tag can be found in The Funkie Junkie Boutique:

  3. Ah ha, so it's stamped on bark? That's what makes that rooster panel so special - gorgeous distressed look to it... And I love the blues and greens! As I said over at AO, I think the stamping direct onto all that colour looks amazing.
    Happy Sunday!
