Love Those Leftovers!

Welcome! So glad you stopped by today to check out what I made for the monthly challenge over at Our Creative Corner. As it happens, I am the host this month and my challenge is to use up the leftovers that are filling up your bins and boxes. We all have those snippets of gorgeous papers we can't part with, embellishments made that didn't quite fit the project they are meant for, papers pre-colored from blotting up every last bit of paint and stain on our craft sheets. Into the box they go and somehow never seem to see the light of day.  So get out those boxes and bins, sort through your leftovers and give 'em some love!

I hope you will play along with us this month at Our Creative Corner.  Just make something primarily out of leftovers and be sure to tell us what leftovers you used on your project.

Here's my collaged wall hanging.  Everything here was a leftover except for the corrugated cardboard backing and the Wendy Vecchi Art Parts on top and bottom.

After rummaging around in my scrap bin, I pulled out a pre-cut square of designer paper, a postcard type of vintage style ephemera that was already crumpled and distressed, a piece of aluminum that had been cut with the Trellis frameworks die, run through a texture fade and smeared with black acrylic ink.  That piece was actually left over from the Paris piece I did a few weeks ago.

There was a charming kraft brown mini envelope that I made ages ago, already pre-stamped and even embossed with enamelware embossing powder.  Then there was the little medallion I made a couple of weeks ago too.  I was just fiddling around and it didn't really come out as I hoped so I dropped in the the scrap bin.  I pulled it out this time because it went well with the color palette what was developing.  I even found a vintage button way down deep and it coordinated beautifully with the botanical stamp on the mini envelope.  The little corrugated heart already had the button sewn on and a bit of clear and gold embossing around the outer edge.

The pediment type embellishments top and bottom are actually one die cut cardboard, cut with the styled label die and then cut out the center with the mini styled label M&S die.  I cut it right down the middle and embossed it with black Wendy Vecchi embossing paste.   I started fiddling around with al the elements, laying them out on the square of card stock.  Once I was happy with the arrangement, I glued them down.  The backing is simply a piece of corrugated cardboard that I sell in the core. I ran a black acrylic ink dabber up and down the ridges to give the piece a little pop.
Using scraps is a quick and easy way to create a project plus it uses up some of the odds and ends that seem to weigh us down.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
