Many Thanks

Happy Saturday!  I'm here today to share this week's challenge project from Our Creative Corner.  Our talented teamie Irena (Rudlis) Kowalczyk - Love, Live & Crafts is our hostess this week and her challenge to us is Our Boys and Their Toys - our men's passion, hobby, interests. Show us the hobby or interest of a man in your life – husband, father, son, brother or another male member of your family. Maybe he likes sports or cars or models. Make a paper craft project that depicts that passion – and be sure to explain what it is in your post write up.

My husband's ruling passion is golf - has been for many years, but now that he is retired he is on the golf course five days a week - two to volunteer and three days a week to actually play.  I LOVE that and don't consider myself in any way a "golf widow".  When he is following his passion, he certainly can't criticize me for following my paper crafting passion!  So we definitely support and encourage each other with our interests.

I made a tag to depict his golfing interest and am going to use it to send to his sister and her husband.  They hosted him in March at member/guest golf tournament at their club and I went along for all the wive's/couple's activities.  I've been very slow in getting a thank you out to them and realized this was a perfect opportunity to meet my DT obligation and get a thank you made for them!

I used a technique that Tim Holtz showed on his 12 Tags of Christmas this year, crumpled up kraft glassine, glued it to Ranger manilla CS, cut it with the Tag and Bookplates die and then went over it with alcohol ink and gold mixitive.  It looks really shinny under the light here but really is darker and more subdued IRL.  I stamped it with Ranger Archival Jet Black in using a sentiment from TH's Stuff to Say set and the golf ball and tee from the old old SU set On the Green.  The old time golfer is from the same set.

I used an old Spellbinders tag set to cut three graduated sizes of tags and stamped a number of different Thanks and Thank Yous from the Verve Celebration of Thanks set which is all thank you sentiments. I used a piece of the Idea-ology Ball Chain to hang the tags so they dangle. I embossed the tags and the golfer with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE).  I love giving things just one coat of UTEE which doesn't cover entirely.  Then I sponge over it with a darker color ink and it gives it a blotchy, worn enamel look.  I did it to the golfer too, but he got a bit heavier coat of UTEE so doesn't have such a blotchy appearance.
I cut a piece of corrugated cardboard with the Styled Labels die, brushed it with Gesso, edged it with Vintage Photo distress ink and then embossed the edges with a home made mix of UTEE and gold EP, just to give it a bit of visual interest and texture.

That's it for this week - I know pretty simple for me, right?  And it only took me about two hours, which is a real record for me to make ANYTHING!  I've listed links below for all the products I used that I sell in the Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I am running a shipping special for April - I'll split the shipping and handling costs with you 50/50 with a $75 or more order.  I have LOTS of new Tim Holtz products in the boutique all at around 20% off MSRP.  Check them out!

And be sure to check out Our Creative Corner to find out what the hobbies and interests of the DT's men are.  Lots of fun and cool projects there again this week.  Have a terrific weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!

A wonderful Tag, adding the Tickets with the many Thank-you sentiments is a great idea. The glassine technique creates a brilliant texture as a bg.
