Hey Chickadee! Inspiration Challenge and a DT Call at Our Creative Corner

This week at Our Creative Corner, our lovely host Wendy Jensen has an inspiration challenge for us.  She has given us this sweet image of a winter chickadee to set our creativity loose.

I tried to go with more grays and blacks, but when I was looking for DP with some red it in and came across the beautiful digital DP from Raspberry Road, I headed off in a red direction (my favorite color - I couldn't hold back!).  I love it matched up with the red polka dots, plus it gave me a chance to crack open this yummy roll of SU ribbon.  I decided that the colors and the DP would make a nice winter/Christmas thank you card.

The stamp set for the bird and heart is a never-used SU set I've had for a couple of months called Punch Potpourri.  I don't have the matching punches so I just hand cut both images.  The birdie was trimmed out and then mounted on black CS and trimmed out again (I wanted him to have some black).  I mounted the heart on chipboard and hand cut around it again.  Then I painted it with a bit of white acrylic paint and sponged Vintage Photo DI around the edges.  The flower was cut with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and spritzed with my homemade Vintage Photo glimmer mist.  And I remembered to use my baker's twine which I have but never think to use.  The sentiment is from Verve Thankful Accents and the panel was stamped with the pine branch from Tim Holtz Mini Holidays set.  The red CS is SU's Cherry Cobbler.  The main black panel was cut with a Spellbinders die and embossed with the SU Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder.

So that wraps up another Our Creative Corner sample.  Be sure to visit us over there.  The designers have outdone themselves and made some awesome samples.  And don't forget about our design team call.  There is still one more week to get your application in.

Thanks for stopping by.  If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section.  And thanks so much for your lovely comments.  They fill my heart with gratitude.

Blessings & hugs,

  11. You have a knack for pulling lots of little details together to make a wonderful project. I love to look at all the little pieces on your projects. The embossed black piece is wonderful. I love the little clip and all your ribbon and bows. I was thinking the red polka-dots looked sparkly but I guess not? It all comes together and is beautiful!
