If you are visiting my blog, I have to say a wholehearted thank you and welcome! It's been almost six months since I have created anything or shared a post. I'm so sorry to have let so much time go by. Things sort of got away from me with the January trip to Anaheim and the Winter CHA. And then it was crazy for a few a months at my store, The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And right in the middle of all of that, I had to look for new space for the shop and organize the move...and then get everything settled and running again. But we are down one team member at Frilly an Funkie for a couple of months so I'm stepping in to fill the gap. Zoe Hillman has taken a leave of absence to move and will be back with us at the end of the summer.
The current challenge at Frilly and Funkie is Let The Words Do the Talking. Here is my sample. I'm not thrilled with how it turned out, but for now and for me, at least it is a start to get me back in my craft room and feeling good about it.
This is for the Funkie side of the team so I wanted something with vintage hues and sort of rough. I started with jumbo manila tag and stamped with Wendy Vecchi's background stamp Just Say It in Cornflower Blue archival ink. Using the Tim Holtz Flourish stencil and Wendy Vecch's Translucent Embossing Paste, I laid down a nice layer of the translucent paste. Once dry, I spritzed it with Antique Linen Distress Spray and let it dry. Then I went over the high points on the embossing with Walnut Stain distress crayon.
The boy and girl are from Found Relatives. The branches are from Southern Ridge Trading Company and the flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. This challenge is all about the sentment and what it means to us. I have always loved this quote from Washington Irving. It's an old back-in-the-day Stamping' Up! rubber stamp. When I make a tag, I always seem to struggle with what to stamp my sentiment on. For this piece, I decided I wanted to stamp on a heart, but didn't have a heart die large enough or the right shape. So I layered two together and stamped on them.
To top it off, I used one of the heart wing cabochons we sell at The Funke Junkie Boutique. The bird was cut from a piece of ephemera from one of Tim Holt's packs but I don't know which pack as they are all mixed together in a drawer in my craft room. I used a rub-on to add one more little sentiment.
That's it for now. Thanks so much for stopping by!
The products below were used to create this tag and are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi products are always 20% off!
