Greetings all! I'm back posting with the Funkie girls over at Frilly an Funkie as we welcome Shelly Hickox as our newest team member. The lovely Jenny Marples is our host of this challenge and she wants us to use our words. The challenge is called "Something to Say" and we are to use quotes or sayings as our focal point - stamp it, print it, use rub-ons, stickers or even die cuts to include words on your vintage project. I used the new Life Quotes stamp set from Tim Holtz for my focal point. It was stamped with Jet Black Archival on white card stock. Then I embossed a flourish in clear EP and sponged it with Vintage Photo DI. It was framed with an Industrious Sticker fro the Gallery pack.
The base of the project is a piece of 5x7 white CS. Embossing ink was applied through the Flourish stencil and then embossed with Enamelware EP. Abandoned Coral DI was sponged on over the embossing and then the color was knocked back a bit with the application of Vintage Photo. It was also stamped with the Wendy Vecchi Script background script.
The filigree is a piece of Kaiser craft laser cut wood, painted black and then painted again with Brushed Pewter distress paint. I also used the Brushed Pewter paint on the tiny bronze dragonflies to turn them silver.
My sweet little bird cage is a silver tone cabochon brooch sold in my boutique. I cut a small square, sponged it with Vintage Photo and applied some Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs to it. It was affixed with a couple of drops of Glossy Accents. A couple more drops of Glossy Accents on the back of the glass cabochon and a good solid pressing of the glass into the brooch affixed the glass solidly on. I took a small pliers and very easily ripped the pin back off the brooch so it could be a hanger. The entire piece has been backed with a piece of very solid chipboard. It could be a free standing piece or a hanging.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will stop by Frilly and Funkie to see what the rest of the Funkie team has to show. And please take a moment to welcome Shelly Hickox to our team also.
All of these supplies are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where most name brands are always 20% under MSRP.

ReplyDeleteOh Linda ... this is marvelous. So much to love here. First, that is a gorgeous background. The combo of abandoned coral and vintage photo is stunning with the flourish stencil (my favorite of the moment). The TH sentiment is so fantastic, especially in that frame. The filigree and bird cage is the perfect way to top it all off. Thanks for the inspiration! -- Mary Elizabeth
