I'm back today with week two of the stencil challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. This week it is the Funkie side of the team who will be sharing their work. I actually made this piece last week and then decided it wasn't shabby chic enough for the Frilly side of the team. But it fits right in with the Funkies.
I started with a half sheet of Ranger Speciality Stamping Paper. I mashed a Worn Lipstick ink pad down on my craft sheet and then sprinted it with water. I did the same thing with a Walnut Stain pad but just didn't make as large a puddle then I blotted my paper into these puddles, drying in between with my heat tool so it wouldn't seem muddy.
I added a little text with a Wendy Vecchi stamp and Jet Black Archival ink. Then using a 12x12" Prima rose stencil, I applied Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste. Using a piece of white CS, I stenciled the Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil with embossing ink and the sprinkled on Weathered White embossing powder and heated it. Then I sponged it with Faded Jeans DI and edged it with Walnut Stain. I used a Tim Holtz sentiment. I cut the left over embossed pieces with my new Butterfly Frenzy die and sponged their edges with Vintage Photo DI. One butterfly is mounted over a larger butterfly cut from an old book page and that's sitting on one of my bronze filigree corners. That about wraps this one up, though I must say that I do love the new Butterfly Frenzy die. I had it in the boutique, but it may be sold out. No worries though as Sizzix has shipped me another batch which should be in this time next week.
The following products used to make this piece can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where Tim Holtz/Ranger and most other name-brand products are always 20% below MSRP.
Just love this one Linda. It's great to see how that rose stencil looks and it's obvious why you love the butterfly frenzy die strip. So much food for thought here... Jenny x
