Hello friends and visitors, so happy to have you back to see my tag #8. I so appreciate you stopping by and also appreciate the lovely comments. To those of you playing along in this challenge, I'm so pleased to have you on board this year and hope you are enjoying getting some Christmas artwork made up ahead of time.
This week, I managed to move a little out of the monochromatic rut I seem to have been in for most of this year's tags. And I also realized that I used the Tattered Poinsettia die for the last three tags so I've put that out of sight. Please slap my had if I reach for it again!
I've been waiting to include some clear embossing on a tag this year and happened to see a fabulous technique by Tammy Tutterow this week that I tried to use. She calls it satin damask background and you can find her post here. I absolutely loved how hers came out and decided to give it a try on this tag. I started by applying Faded Jeans distress stain to my jumbo manila tag. Then I clear embossed the snowflake stamp from Tim Holtz's Mini Holidays stamp set. Then I gave it three applications of the Picket White distress paint as Tammy suggested. Then I stamped the script stamp over everything and sponged the edges with Walnut Stain DI.
My snowflakes were cut with a Stampin' Up decorative strip die. Love this die as it has about 10 different snowflake patterns on it. I also stamped them with the script stamp and misted them with Perfect Pearls Biscotti Mist. Santa, from Tim's Old Fashioned Christmas set, was stamped in the new Wendy Vecchi Potting Soil archival ink and colored with a water brush and distress ink pads (too lazy to get out my markers). I gave him a little bling with some Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter on his hat and cuffsplus some Black Soot glitter on his buttons.
My sentiment panel was cut with the Sized Ovals M&S dies and stamped second and third generation in Potting Soil archival. The sentiment was also stamped in Potting Soil. In looking at the photos, I really wish I had clear embossed the sentiment which would have made it pop a bit. I did give it a little bling with a mist or two of Biscotti Perfect Pearls mist.
A piece of ivory twine and a rusty jingle bell held on with a wire pin make up the finishing accent.
These supplies used to make the tag above are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where Tim Holtz and Ranger products are always 20% below MSRP.
