Seaside Memories

Today is the mid-month posting for the other half of the Our Creative Corner challenge.  The challenge theme is Memories and there is a requirement to use a photograph in your project.  My memories piece is about a brand-new memory.  A few weeks back, my husband and I got out of town for a weekend at the beach.  We drove to Sanibel Island on the west coast of Florida for a two night stay.  Our hotel was right on the beach and I took this photograph.  Since my style is primarily vintage, I switched the photo over to sepia tones with my Photoshop Elements and it became the basis for my card.

I started with a piece of white card stock and stamped the starfish from the By the Sea in Brushed Pewter Distress Paint and then stamped the lighthouse and sentiment in jet black archival.  Then the entire panel was sponged with Broken China and a bit of Salty Ocean, followed by edging with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I also edged it with an embossing powder combination that I mix up - silver and UTEE.

I used my old Spellbinders rectangle and scalloped rectangle dies to cut a piece of light card stock to frame the photo, covered it with Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint and when dry, lightly sponged it with Vintage Photo.  I added a couple of small shells I picked up on the beach at Sanibel Island.

My sentiment was stamped on white card stock with black archival and aged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink then cut with the Tattered Banners die.  It was affixed to a piece of filmstrip with 1/8" Wonder Tape and then the ends were trimmed to match the ends of the tattered banner die cut.  And that's it.   The supplies and links to the store are listed below.
