Hi there, how about some ice cream, the good old fashioned hand-churned kind. Sound yummy? What a great way to cool down a hot summer day.
Our Artistic Outpost blog hop theme this month is Americana and doesn't this ice cream image just bring back old memories? Before I get started on the deets, here is the hop line-up so you can check out the rest of the team's Americana makes:
* Gerrie * Lisa * Suzanne * Tracy * Alison * Terry * Kate *
I love the theme - there were so many ideas swimming around my brain on how to approach it but the ice cream churn from Kudzu Kafe won out. I used the ticking stamp with Vermillion archival ink to stamp the background and created my ice cream parlor awning by cutting a white strip and a red strip with scalloped decorative scissors, cutting the strips apart and gluing them back together alternating the colors. The 10 cents and the Healing Tonic stamps plus the label stamp are from Apothecary and Life is Good is from Typography.
I made the ice cream spoon by downloading a picture of one from the internet, resizing it and printing it out on card stock then trimming it out. The sleeve is one of the little glassine bags I use to package small items in my boutique. I created the lettering on my computer, taped the glassine bag to a piece of computer paper and ran it through my printer. I ended up doing it a couple of times before I got it printed in just the right spot, adjusting it each time. I was really pleased with the way it came out.
There you go. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you go have an ice cream and cool off on this hot summer day!

ReplyDeleteVery clever the way you made and added the little ice cream spoon. Locally we have a brand of frozen malts that come with the little wooden spoons. Usually they are hidden in the bottom of the box, but I usually take one or two to use in my craft room. Great card.
ReplyDeletePerfect ice-cream stand in fab candy colours - and the little wooden spoon is an inspired addition!
