The Renaissance Men

Hello and welcome! Thanks so much for stopping by today to see what I have made for the newest Frilly and Funkie challenge, which kicks off today. Anita Houston has a very interesting challenge for us and I can't wait to see what everyone will be making for it. She is asking us to pay homage to the four big Renaissance Men who have inspired us all at one time or another - Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael. Show us a project depicting any one or more of their works, tell which it is, and who created it.

My card was inspired by Raphael's Cherubini (I just happened to have a stamp of it that I picked up on eBay years ago). The cherub is stamped in Coffee archival ink and I used my favorite UTEE technique on it - applied one light coat and flicked it off aggressively before heating it on, after heating, sponged with Vintage Photo DI. The LOVE sentiment was treated the same way.

The first BG mounting panel was stamped with the TH Fabulous Flourishes stamp in embossing ink and then gold embossed. The main BG panel is a song sheet downloaded from a free vintage site on the 'net. The cherub is mounted on a die cut from corrugated cardboard and I went around the edges with a mixture of gold EP and UTEE. The doily was sponged with Vintage Photo DI. The Venise lace was hand dyed with a coffee solution and the crinoline with a tea solution. The heart in the upper left was cut from light chipboard with a Spellbinders die, stamped with an SU stamp in Aged Mahogany and I added a couple of brass pieces that I aged with Pitch Black alcohol ink.

That's it on the deets - let me know if you have any questions. I hope you will stop by Frilly and Funkie to see what the other designers have made with this theme. You are sure to be inspired!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you are having a great week!
