Marbled Stains Meets Kraft & Yellow

 

I can hardly believe that it has rolled around to Saturday again.  Where does the time go?  It seems every time I blink, another week is in the past.  This week Anne Marie Hile is our hostess again at Our Creative Corner and she has a color challenge for us - yellow - kraft - white/ivory.   

Now, I have to admit, when I saw this graphic I was totally stumped.  My thought process was what the heck can I do with those colors????  But after participating in Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities II challenge last week on Marble Stains I have become enamored with this technique.  I was also inspired by Sandra's marble stain tag using Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  So with that inspiration filling my sails, I took off.  For my marble stains I used Picket Fence, Mustard Seed and a healthy amount of Antique Linen to tone down the Mustard Seed a bit - adds a nice vintage look, don't you think?

After the basic stain layer was put down, I used SU's Soft Suede to randomly stamp from Tim's Ultimate Grunge set and embossed with the new honeycomb texture fade.  Of course, the corrugated cardboard was cut with the Distressed Doily on the edge die.  I did the same marble staining on more of the Ranger manila CS and cut a lot of flowers using Tim's flower dies - Tattered Florals, Mini Tattered Florals Movers and Shapers and the new Tattered Flowers decorative strip die.  I really love the way all these sizes and similar shapes layer up together!  After cutting, I sponged all the edges with Vintage Photo DI and then used this incredibly cool Ranger Enamelware distressing powder on it.  I just love the way it looks - it's clear with white flecks that look like vintage enamelware.  

 

The tickets were cut with the Movers & Shapers Ticket die and the sentiment is from the Artistic Outpost Quotes and Quotables stamp plate.  I gave basic white CS tickets a bit of grunge with the Ultimate Grunge set, edged with Vintage Photo DI and hooked them together with a mini paper clip.  The pretty embroidered lace from my shop lends some of the white required by the color challenge.  

So I have gone from being panicked by this color palette to being in love with it.  You know how I get hooked on things and just have to keep them going for awhile.  Yep, you will definitely be seeing more kraft, white and yellow on my blog :)
