A Shabby Pumpkin

Hello,  I hope you all had a fun Halloween and a great weekend!  I'm back here today with another marvelous Monday with Simon Says Stamp and Show.  This week we want you to show us Something Shabby.  Well, you can imagine that was hardly a challenge for me since seldom do anything that isn't shabby!  So I challenged myself to change it up a bit by doing a home decor project instead of my usual shabby cards.  

I saw an item made out of felt recently and it inspired me to head out to my local fabric store to see what they had in the line of felt.  I already had the idea of a pumpkin in my mind.  They only had a bright, almost neon, orange felt so I decided to go with this rust color which I really liked.  While I was there, I picked up some stone beads and copper wire for embellishments too.  I drew a pumpkin pattern and cut two out of the felt, stitched around the edge leaving an opening in the top which I used to stuff it.  I hand stitched the ric rac to form the ridges which sort of quilted it.  (Saturday is college football day in our household so I actually relaxed in front of the TV while watching the Gators play - well, tried to relax at least as it was a bit of a tense game for us!)

For my flower, I once again returned to canvas which was cut with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die and dyed with Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint distress inks.   It's all held together with a bit of Idea-ology Foliage The maple leaves were cut from Ten Seconds Studio metal, embossed with the Tim Holtz Cracked texture fade and smudged with Adirondack alcohol ink.  Charms made with Tim Holtz Fragments and vintage Thanksgiving images provide a finishing touch.
