A Little Shabby Chic Eye Candy for Your Desk

Good morning blogging friends.  If you are in the USA, I wish you a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.  Hope you can grab some outdoors time with your family!

This week over at Our Creative Corner, Sue Butler is our hostess and she wants to see our Shabby Chic creations.  Well, that's not even a challenge for me - LOL.  It's pretty much what I do.  But I did go a little grander than normal  The Pion Designs paper I used was the small 6x6 version and the particular piece I wanted to use from the From My Heart II pack really begged to be done in a 6x6.  So rather than make a huge card, I set out to make a wall handing, but at the last minute decided it would be better free standing rather than hung.  I pulled out my trusty easel die and set it up to be freestanding.  I really like making free standing art pieces using the easel die.  I use it for tags too so I can stand them up on my desk rather than find a place to hang them.
I hand dyed all the laces which started out as pure white.  They are all available in white in my Zibbet boutique (don't forget, everything there is on sale through May 28th) and I do have some of the deep ivory hearts available there. My rose was made using the Tattered Pine Cones die and the flourish is an old BossKut die I've had for sometime.  The shabby seam binding was dyed with a couple of drops of Tattered rose reinker watered down a bit.  Just about everything here was made with all my favorite goodies that I carry in my boutique.  The only thing you can buy is the vintage image I used, which I created by removing backgrounds in my PhotoShop Elements and layering three vintage images together.  Love playing with photoshop and vintage images to see what I can come up with.

The Tim Holtz metal Word Band was swiped with a bit of gesso, using my finger to apply it.  I frequently get questions on how I affix my lace and metal bits.  I really love using the Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium Matte because it dries clear and matte, not shiny.  All my edges were sponged with either Antique Linen or Vintage Photo distress inks.

Be sure to stop by Our Creative Corner.  The design team has excelled themselves with Sue's shabby chic team and I, for one, am absolutely drooling over their creations!

CC2C #6 Winner!

Well, here I am with my submission for Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities II, challenge #6 which was Tissue Wrap Collage from page 38 of the new Compendium of Curiosities II book by Tim Holtz.  Except I am metaphorically stamping my foot right now!  I was rushing to finish, photograph and upload it before the 10pm ET deadline for Linda's challenge.  And I almost made it but my laptop decided it was time for it to take a break, froze and I couldn't upload in time before the challenge closed.  Grrrrr!  So here is my piece that I almost submitted for the challenge.  I swear next week I will have it done in plenty of time!
But the real business here is to announce the winner.  My Funkie Junkie Boutique was the sponsor for Challenge #6 and I'm here to announce that the winner is Catherine, entry #17, from Catherine's Craft Corner.  Congratulations Catherine!!!  Please email me at thefunkiejunkie@gmail.com (be sure to use thefunkiejunkie@gmail.com rather than funkiejunkie@gmail.com) and I will send you a coupon code so you can shop for $25 of crafty goodies at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

For all of you who are not familiar with my boutique, I hope you will take a little browse through it.  Right now through May 28th, I have a Memorial Day sale going on and my already-low prices have been reduced by 10%.  Hope you will give me a try.  Listed below are all the supplies and tools from my shop that I have used to create my Tissue Wrap Collage tag.

And I have to say that I got a lot of inspiration and enjoyment out of cruising through the gallery and looking at everyone's sensational creations! Thanks to everyone who played along!

Kudzu Kafe - New from Artistic Outpost

Good morning and welcome to the May release blog hop for Artistic outpost.  Just in time for summer stamping, Artistic Outpost is happy to releaseKudzu Kafe, a Southern inspired collection that pays homage to the lazy days of summer. This collection was inspired by a vintage kudzu seed packet that Robyn picked up from a flea market. Planting kudzu seeds is kind of ironic, because kudzu is like the plague to many that live in the Southern part of the US. It grows in the fields, along most country roads, and covers EVERYTHING.

The nostalgic images featuring a roadside cafe, children from the early 1900's, and Thoreau sentiments will easily mix and stylistically go with so many of Artistic Outpost's other collections including: The Outpost, Home, and Old Grist Mill.

What a fun country feel this set has. I absolutely fell in love with the ticking stamp and you'll be seeing more of it in upcoming work.  Here I used it for my background, the tickets and my flowers, all stamped in Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
Here is the list for the blog hop.  Hope you will hop by all the designer's blogs to see what wonderful inspiration they have to share using the new Kudzu Kafe set.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
