Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Bonus Tag #2
Hello and welcome back to the final inspiration piece for the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style. A huge thank you to everyone who played along in my challenge this year. I have had so much fun with this challenge, seeing how you all interpreted my samples and visiting your blogs. I must say, you all have ben a huge inspiration to me and it's exciting to see you try new styles and techniques, pushing the personal boundaries of your art. I hope you have had as much fun as I have had. Thank you too to all the visitors. I know many of you were unable to play along, but have visited and left comments. I deeply appreciate your support of this challenge and hope that you, too, have found inspiration in my samples.
For my final tag, I have again made a matchbook type folded thank you note. I really like this style for notes using the jumbo tags from my shop - fun to do and fits in an A2 size envelope! I used a Prima stencil to create an embossed border along the bottom of the note, embossing it with Wendy Vecchi's white embossing paste. When dry, I used Tim Holtz's marbled stains technique with Brushed Pewter and Picket Fence DS on both the front and back of the tag, then edged it lightly with Walnut Stain DI. I applied Frosted Film to Clearly for Art film and die cut it with the One the Edge Snowflake die. A light coat of Brushed Pewter DS was applied to the Frosted Film and I sort of rubbed it in with my finger to spread it out so it wouldn't be too thick. I wanted it to be somewhat translucent. After gluing it down, I hit it with my heat tool to warp it a bit for dimension.
The inside is very simple. I stamped 2nd and 3rd generation stamping using Jet Black archival ink. I know it looks grey/silver, but that's the result of stamping over the Brushed Pewter DS.
That's a wrap for this year's tags. You have until January 8th to link up your tags. Completing the first 12 qualifies you as completing the challenge. Savor the MidWinter
Hello and welcome back. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit. I hope you are enjoying the Christmas season. I've been down with the flu for most of the past week. Today was the first day that I felt able to sit at my craft table and play. Fortunately the boutique has been slow this week while most of you have been focusing on your family festivities.
Anyway, since I was pretty much out of commission and felt like I missed most of Christmas, I'm still wanting to enjoy winter/Christmas crafting and decided to make another winter themed card for my Artistic Outpost DT piece this week. I stamped the forest scene from the Midwinter set onto a #8 manila tag in Potting Soil, ripped off the bottom end and sponged it with Vintage Photo DI. I filled in all the snowy areas by brushing on Glossy Accents and then shaking on Rock Candy distress glitter. The designer papers are from Maja Design It's Christmas Time collection.
I got out my Queen's Gold EP and coated the filigree metals and the snowflake strip that I cut with the Holly Beaded and Snowflake Garland. I also used it to emboss the sentiment.
That's pretty much it for this card. Thanks again for stopping by and have a great winter Sunday.

Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Bonus Tag #1
Christmas greetings, friends and visitors! I'm back today with a huge thank you to you all for your interest and participation in my annual Christmas tags challenge. I've had such fun making these tags and visiting the blogs of everyone who has played along. You all have been a huge inspiration to me with the amazing art pieces you have made with just a small idea here and there from my tags. Thank you! I'm so grateful for your participation and support playing it this challenge! I hope you have all had as much fun as I have had.

So here I am, back with the first of two very small offerings to keep you inspired over the holiday season. It's a super busy week so I made a quick Thank You tag, taking my inspiration from Tim Holtz. I really loved what he did with the frosted film for his December tag and I will be entering my tag in his challenge. My small supply in the store sold out immediately so I had to wait to get my frosted film to come in a re-order. Since December is running out, I decided to double up on this tag. I didn't have much time to play so I made it very simple, just swiping the background with Icy Spruce DS and stenciling the holly leaves on with Library Green archival ink.
The holly leaf cluster was made exactly according to Tim Holtz's instructions for his December tag. Because my holly leaf cluster was a bit overwhelming on the small footprint of the tag, I wanted to keep any other embellishments to a minimum. I love the Industrious Stickers - Borders and decided a strip on each side would be a nice touch. I tried to mimic the tarnished metal surface from the Industrious stickers with the sentiment plates. Using Silver Foil card stock, I scratched it lightly with my Sanding Grip to take the shine off it. Then I silver embossed the plate and the sentiment from Simple Sayings, dabbing on Pitch Black acrylic paint. Once it was 3/4 dry, I buffed it off leaving a tarnished look to it. It doesn't exactly match the Industrious Sticker surface, but it's close.
The inside is mostly blank for writing a personal thank you message. I ran a strip of red line tape under the top flap to create a matchbook type of closing for the note.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Wishing all my Christian friends a very blessed Christmas!
